06:47 AM ET 10.22 | A pair of shoes could end up costing the University of Central Florida nearly $2 million a year. UCF promised Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, that he could wear his father's Nike Air Jordan brand for the Knights' basketball team this season. The problem? UCF has an exclusive $1.9 million contract with Adidas that requires all coaches and athletes to use the company's shoes, apparel and game equipment.

If UCF takes a loss here, Daddy should be able to get one of his friends at Nike to pick up the tab.

Seriously, if they need to go with Air Jordan's, Mike/Nike should give them the deal. However, it could cost them more, as I would think Adidas could sue UCF for breach of contract as well, but I doubt they would want the bad press.

It would suck if Adidas decided to take their $1.9M and leave. What makes anyone think Nike would be willing to have anything to do with UCF once Marcus has gone?

If the only noteworthy stuff that's being mentioned are who his dad is and what shoes he wears, then I'm guessing not.

They brought in Jordan's son to bring attention to the program. They school knew that Marcus would not wear any other shoe than Air Jordans when they recruited him. They ars banking on his name being worth the amount they may loose from Addidas.

eh, I think this all works for UCF... you think they would have been in the news at all this year without MJ's kid? No press is bad press.

Have to agree with you Famurattler. They knew this before they even signed the kid and were trying to cash in on the fame of his father. Besides if the kid were really that good how come nobody from Duke, Georgetown, or North Carolina tried recruiting this kid.

Funny this week both of Jordan's non talented son's are in the college sporting news. One decides to go back to Illinois Basketball where he is no factor and now the one who has zero talent is wearing Nike at an Adias school. Wonder if the MJ publicists are earning their money?????????
