Kyrie Irving put on a blue ball cap and announced that he is committing to Duke Thursday evening. But Irving wouldn't lobby his friend, Harrison Barnes, to join him in committing to the Blue Devils. "I'll let the Duke coaching staff handle that," Irving said. Barnes, a forward who's rated the top player in the Class of 2010 by scout.com, is visiting Duke this weekend. Irving, a point guard from St. Patrick High in Elizabeth, N.J., is rated No. 5 overall in the class by scout.com.

I guess you didn't see the recruiting class this year with 6'11 Miles Plumlee and 6'10 Ryan Kelly. If Barnes commits they will have the number one team n the country next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nah, if bubmlee is half as good as his stellar prospect bother he will do well to hold down the bench along with czyz and sloubek.

Miles was a Freshman last year at Duke. Mason is the new Plumlee. Ryan Kelly isn't a strong post player, he's more of a hybrid 3/4 with a strong face-up game.

kind of like the one that the duke students overpaid for when they were studying czech and serbo-croatian with us at UNC? we have you matched or beaten in academics and athletics for a lower price so i love hearing from a--holes like docmadlab that claim they went to duke. especially when i mention they paid too much for an eductaion at a school in the south started by souterners, when they thumb their nose at us.

tell k to keep the shoeshine kit out docmadlab jersey brisket boy because it will be a lond time before k can respectably ask roy for a shine.

"with us at UNC" (?) Dude, you can't even spell so you probably did go there. Typical redneck hole fan embarrassing himself. Hee hee. Duke is back.

October 23, 2009  08:32 PM ET

If Barnes reads this blog I hope he remembers that Henderson went to Puke and Ellington went to UNC, and we know who has a National Championship and who didnt even come close...and they were best of friends. Markism Im not going to stoop to your level of ignorance, but arrogant and pompous comments like that are why duke is hated and loathed thruout the country.

wow not a single student or professor has ever misspelled a word at dook university. Must be great to be perfect at dook university schmuck.

October 24, 2009  05:28 AM ET

wow, some serious hatin' going on down there in the south.

October 24, 2009  09:24 AM ET

Duke's lame. How much did you get to play at Duke Irving?

October 24, 2009  10:10 AM ET

i doubt duke paid him a thing because i begrudgingly respect k for also sunning a clean, quality program. to clarify 'with us at UNC'. i am a slavic linguist and did postgrad work at UNC. duke and UNC jointly operate one of a few state department- sponsored centers for russian eurasian and eastern european studies (which is, by the way, located in chapel hill). just as UNC, duke and NCSU cooperate on many things in the research triangle park.

so back to my point, there were duke students in my czech and serbo-croatian classes because the foreign language department at duke didn't offer those courses, but UNC did. just as some UNC students i knew were taking ukranian at duke under resiprocal agreements though the russian and e. eur. institute i mentioned above.

the point being, duke may cost three times more to attend (not that any of this is relevant to scholarship athletes) but it is far from being three times better a university.

p.s. sorry for the common typos i tend to be a little sloppy in this informal setting since i typically write and edit thousands of words daily in a formal work setting.

October 24, 2009  10:10 AM ET

for also running, not sunning, a clean program. LOL

October 24, 2009  10:27 AM ET

also marksim i didn't know that duke had gone anywhere so what are they back from? just thought it was part of the down cycle in recruiting. it happens in college sports. as for calling me a redneck... prolly a good thing i am across the pond.
