Why Nuggets won't deal for Jackson

08:51 AM ET 10.24 | Stephen Jackson is a spectacular basketball player with a spectacularly explosive personality -- one I don't think will end up in powder blue. Crazier things have happened. But the Nuggets have worked especially hard at putting together a group of guys who have as much character as talent. Just look at the newcomers -- Arron Afflalo, Ty Lawson and Joey Graham and Malik Allen. Each guy is a great guy, as well as a guy who can help make this team better (the Nuggets feel). As for the Warriors' Jackson, even if Denver wanted him, he would be difficult to acquire.

Best player on the warriors BY FART. They are going nowhere without him.

I see a trade happening...S. jackson to the Spurs for R. Jefferson and M. Finley. Spurs get a versatile wing player; warriors get two fast-paced guys who fit in well with Nellie's system.

Just saw this:

"But the Nuggets have worked especially hard at putting together a group of guys who have as much character as talent."

What do you call J. R. Smith? A model citizen?

He's a SF-
Melo's a SF-

ps- any team with JR smith on it cannot be called a good character team

When absolute stupidity overshadows talent you have Marbury & Stephen Jackson. Fools's gold anybody?

Not getting Jefferson AND Finley for Jackson...

... Jefferson and Jackson are on the same level. Borderline All Star NBA players.

In fact, Jefferson was on the 2004 Olymic team.

Also, Spurs would probably prefer Jefferson over Jackson because they have similar games but Jefferson is a low-key personality that stays within a team concept.

Karly is a headcase himself...

... remember his teams in Seattle?

Kemp, Payton, Sleepy-eyed Sam Perkins, etc.?

I think Karl prefers a zany crew of guys because he's a nut too.

Don't pull the trade trigger, the Bro is done.

This article said nothing about the nuggets being a good character team, so I'm wondering where all the hating on the players is coming from. It said the Nuggets are "hard at putting together a group of guys who have as much character as talent," JR smith is the epitome of character and hes got alot of talent, same thing goes for many of the other nuggets players. As far as Jackson coming to the Nuggets thats not going to happen. Melo gets 36 min. at SF Jackson wont be happy getting only 12 min. I also can't see him getting much play time at SG.

October 24, 2009  01:18 PM ET

so they really want to bring in an explosive personality again, that didnt work before with Iverson

Disagree. Why would the Spurs throwaway a great acquisition like Jefferson and a good deal in Finley just to pickup an expensive headcase like Jackson? A great deal if your a Warriors fan.

Definitely agree. Both of these guys talked themselives out of the chance to play on a team that has a shot at the championship.

Denver is at least trying to clean up their image. Bringing in Billups was huge. You saw his influence on Melo last season and I expect that he will continue to progress. With Billups and a mature Melo, I would hope that guys like JR Smith sill learn to fall in line.
