Come on back Tony. Even though i have questioned some of his decisions you cant argue with the fact the cardinals have been the second most succesful franchise (yankees first) in baseball since he's been in charge.

Well after the Phillies win their SECOND WS in a row you may want to rethink your success parameters........

long way to go before they win two, and i wouldn't get too excited about 3 years of winning compared to 14

LOL! Yeah, some fans win 1 or 2 championships out of 100+ and think they belong in the all-time great category. Wasn't that long ago the Phils produced that stellar below-500 season.

no kidding, the cardinals are hands down the class of the NL and it will take more than a couple good years to erase that

Taken from today's St. Louis Newspaper - " "I don't want to make any statements about being close to coming back," deferred La Russa"

What the heck does the Chicago Tribune know?

I think they just recycle these will he won't he headlines every time Larussa has a contract come up. I don't know how many times I've heard this intrigue crap when it really is a non story. This is part of the negotiation process and nothing else. TLR looks at the money, his age, and his options and makes a decision. It's just like Albert saying he's taking his time before signing an extension. What smart person wouldn't look at all angles? The bottom line is that TLR is in the best baseball town in America, he gets paid well, and he doesn't have to deal with the microscope that the managers on the coasts and in my idiot hometown of Chicago have to deal with. Why would he want to leave?

And the bartenders in St Louis and hotel bars in MLB towns breathe a huge sigh of relief.

"That man is our bedrock." said Juan, the bartender at the Los Angeles Marriott. "Without Tony I'm just not sure if we could make it through this recession."
