05:53 AM ET 10.27 | Titans owner Bud Adams wants Vince Young starting at quarterback beginning with Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Following the 59-0 loss to the Patriots on Oct. 18 that dropped the Titans to 0-6, Adams told The Tennessean he'd made Coach Jeff Fisher aware of his desire to see Young play. In the past week the 86-year-old owner has been more direct, according to sources familiar with the situation. Adams wants the change now. At his weekly press conference earlier in the day, Fisher was non-committal when asked if Kerry Collins or Young would start this week, citing competitive reasons.

The season is basically lost at this point. Might as well get another look at Young. Who knows, he could look better, like Alex Smith's return for the 49ers.

59-0.....I don't think the QB is the biggest problem on this team.

Too bad because Fisher has been pretty successful during his career.....

October 27, 2009  06:25 AM ET

Maybe they should leave Collins in at QB and try Young in the secondary. I'd say that's as much of a problem as the QB.

What a mind-boggling flat spin this team is in...

October 27, 2009  06:35 AM ET

Well let's see team is 0-6, and they just got beat 59-0,hmmmm don't see how it can be much worse if the qb is Vince Young, Kerry Collins, or some wino picked off the street. Here's an idea get all the rbs, wrs, together before the game and draw straws, loser gets to be the qb this week

October 27, 2009  06:41 AM ET

Classic example of micro-management. Owners telling coaches how to coach. When are they going to learn? They only see the product that goes out on the field. The owner doesn't sit there and watch every snap of every practice like the coaches do. If the coaches don't feel like he's a capable player, the owner needs to either trust his judgment or hire somebody else they trust.

All that being said, if I threw all that money at a flop, I'd want to get another look at him since the season is already over. Might as well figure out whether or not you need to use that top 3 pick on a QB...

Why not at this point? It isn't like the Titans will do anything this year and Kerry Collins isn't the answer to the Titans problems, but it gives the Vince Young Hall of Fame career a jump-start, right?

As far as anyone talking about an owner being involved with the team in making player personnel decisions, look no further than the mediocrity that the Cowboys have been living in. A first round pick + more for Roy Williams and his 2 catches per game. Giving Romo all that money to be an average quarterback and so on. Meddling owners usually spell doom for a team in the salary cap era.

Really, it's hard to make the HOF when you're sitting on the bench. Plus, it will help to get that 10 game winning streak started!

I can picture Young sitting on the bench with this fantasy vision, ala Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn's character from Fast Times ...), being interviewed after winning the superbowl, being named mvp, and being inducted to the hof all on the same day.

Yeah, Jeff Fisher and Jim Zorn might be doing the network half-time circuit before the season is out. Dallas will stick with the doughboy. None of these teams is going to find it easy to get a quality HC with these owners.

The Titans might be in the best shape, because Buddy is old enough to kick the bucket at any point. Of course, all it would take is one bite from Al Davis and he could become immortal.

LOL. Awesome- and just in time for Halloween!

Between Adams and Young, one of them wants to see Young on the field.

October 27, 2009  07:57 AM ET

I didn't realize they had cut Ramsey and only have VY & Collins on th roster.

Must have decided to keep an extra defensive player - it didn't work.

October 27, 2009  07:57 AM ET

how can anyone call bud adam's a meddling owner !?..........he's the ''howard hughes'' of nfl-owners !!...........maybe it's time for fisher to work for nfl-network ??

October 27, 2009  08:02 AM ET

It will be interesting to see who plays their out of the league faster, Young or JaMarcus Russell.

Fisher will be working for another NFL team next year.

October 27, 2009  08:05 AM ET

why not start young. like all of the posts say, the season is basically done. maybe it will wake up the defence. I guess I'll call it first, TEN will win out and finish the year at 10-6 and just miss playoffs.

VY will get a crazy contract extension (to pay him what he's worth) and in 5 years retire with all of the tangible QB passing records. That or just flame out.

Definitely the funniest thing I've heard the past week.

I think at 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 240 lbs with good speed Vince young would make a hell of a tight end by added a few pounds or lose a few lbs and could be a heck of a receiver. The guy is talented no questions about it. Anyone who saw him play in the College championship game against USC will attest to that. I feel he is not being utilized correctly. He is still young (no pun intended) and has many good years ahead. Tony Romo didn't start for the Cowboys until he was 26, the same age Vince is. He can do it.

At this point, there is nothing to lose for the Titans to see if Young is worth keeping for the future.
