Angel wants Henry in New York

There have been reports emanating out of Spain that the agent of Thierry Henry, the Barcelona and French international star, is talking with the Red Bulls about joining the team next year. Angel certainly wouldn't mind having a running mate of that caliber tormenting MLS defenders. Of course, the former Colombian internationals realizes Henry coming to the Red Bulls is far from reality. But it that didn't stop him from talking about that possibility Tuesday. He is arguably playing for the best team in the world. He's physically fit. He could give us another three, four years, easily," Angel said. "So it is phenomenal that you can attract a player like him. As I said, I don't want to get too excited. But eventually if it happens, I think it will be phenomenal for everyone here."

Yes please. This would be another Beckham-style steal.

My son would also like Henry to be his running mate on his 4th grade team.

in related news; angel would also be happy IF: drogba, kaka, ronaldo, and pirlo played for the red bulls as well.

I think he might even settle for Robbie Fowler.

If I were Angel or a NYRB supporter, I might as well.

Actually, not to ruin your joke, cos it was a good one, but Fowler already has 6 goals in 12 games for the North Queensland Fury in the A League. I personally would never play for a team with a name that stupid, but what I getting at is that when the MLS passed on Fowler because they thought he was washed up (because his agent did explore the MLS) they were (once again) wrong. Fowler was not washed up and still had something to contribute to a team.

Of course, i'd rather have Henry in the MLS than Fowler, but old Robbie Fowler is still better than 80% of the strikers in the MLS.

b/c i have no interest in the story at hand :

http://onelovesoccer.webs.com/apps/forums/topics/show/1548362-zachary-stei nberger

some weeks ago, someone was talking about why our youth always go to the big countries to play abroad, and how we should have some in smaller sides like Czech, etc...

Zachary Steinberger, US U18 pool player, is currently playing with MFK KOSICE's U18-U19 side. Zachary played with the U19's in their 4-2 victory over Dunajska Streda U19's last weekend.

delete the space in the URL link. Steinberger should all be one word in the URL

Fowler would cost a team less money then Henry... but the deep pockets of Redbulls make this a moot point

No, you didn't ruin it at all. Folwer is in a pretty good run of form right now and would potentially be an asset to the Red Bulls. Yet it is still funny. I am no Liverpool fan, although I do like Fowler. Best, Goal Celebration, Ever.

Fowler only wishes those lines were the REAL deal.

He would have been an asset to almost any MLS team--but sadly, no one bit. Fowler is like Huckerby on steroids.

Who's going to feed Henry and Angel the ball if we're to believe that this T&R has some merit? I would go get Juan Roman Riquelme and Martin Palermo if I was NYRB - a distributor who could feed a striker and is deadly on set pieces. Riquelme would be a trickier proposition to acquire, but Palermo is on record saying he wants to try something new (he'd be cheaper than Henry so you could still fill out a squad around him). Ricardo Noir and Diego Buonanotte are Fredy Montero types who are lightning fast and could also fetch something in the transfer market in the future if you want residual value. Argentine football is a mess right now and if MLS were to come with its checkbook, it would improve the talent level of the league geometrically.

Also, I figured Angel would bolt after this past year, but it sound like he's staying in for the long haul. Maybe the financial problems in Argentina is the reason.

The Fowler goal celebration with the lines is a classic. This one is the most bizarre .. Vucinic of Roma in his underwear.

I thought he was ready to go to Millionarios in Colombia...

All kidding aside...agreed, it will be interesting to see what the fallout is of the struggles the Argentinian league is having. Maybe Palermo will jump to MLS now?

Fowler ... this is the one:

You should see if you can find the goal celebration where Lucarelli takes off his shirt at the touch line and dry humps it. Disgusting. Nasty.

October 28, 2009  10:43 AM ET

As predicted, the Spanish Press are crushing Real Madrid after losing to Segunda Division B side Alcorcon in the Copa del Rey 4-0. Looks like Pelligrini is going to get bounced out ... who steps in to fix the situation because Pelligrini has already gotten the ultimatum, win or you're out.

The Lucarelli one is in here, along with some other classics.
