Henderson demanding $5 million?

Contract negotiations between Dan Henderson and the UFC remain at a stalemate. As noted last week, UFC President Dana White recently stated to MMA Fix that he has a good relationship with Henderson, but that Hendo "was looking for an obscene amount of money." If you were to take White's comments literally, then Henderson would be asking for something in the range of $5 million per year or more, which is around what Brock Lesnar is set to make this year after his fight with Frank Mir at UFC 100 in July.

Let the bum go to Strikeforce where he could be a champion.

Shouldnt you be a champ first before making all types of demands its kinda hard when your not the main target in the UFC and you want to fight the main target.

i wonder what the top guys make a year. after taxes and training costs. brock gets $400,000 A FIGHT! So 5 mil seems reasonable with sponsorship.

I was thinking 5 million actually sounds a lot lower then expected compared to other sports. And a fighter of Hendo's stature, it doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount, Champ or not you WANT good talent in your BIG MONEY league then F'in pay for it.

I gotta say it should come down to how many fights he expects to fight in a year. Lesnar is a major draw, whether you like him or not, and that is why he makes the coin he does. Hendo is not on that level, but if he wanted to fight say, 6 times a year, as opposed to the 3 he fights now, then you'd want to give him a fat contract. He doesn't deserve Lesnar money...but he should be making more than a Keith Jardine or someone like that.

He gets paids the most money, because he generates the most money.

The UFC needs to stop being so cheap and actually pay the men that put themselves on the line for their company instead of lining their own pockets.

Umm, did you see how many PPV buys UFC 100 did? He makes that kind of money because he is a PPV machine. Brock made 400k guaranteed, made another 2.5 mil on his PPV pct. Well deserved.

Dan Henderson is one of my favorite fighters, but have you bought a PPV because you wanted to see Dan HEnderson fight? What he's asking for is ridiculous.

hendo's had mixed results in the ufc. he lost to silva, lost to rampage, the franklin fight was pretty much a draw, one knock out doesn't mean a huge payday. i mean it was an awesome KO, but 5 million? he should get more money, but lets be realistic. what is he going to do? go fight in strikeforce? and fight who? he's 40 years. he doesn't have that much time left.....spend it wisely.

He could go to SF for peanuts and fight Mousasi, then he would fight, hmm, drawing a blank. Oh yeah, thats right, he's the only fighter they have a LHW.

Agreed , I can't see Mousasi finishing Hendo but he maybe could submit him! I wonder who will be the guy to KO Henderson or if he will quit before that happens.

Krypto, I still say Hendo has zero chance of going to SF. This is how business works. He'll sign with UFC once he realizes he's asking for too much.

He is a veteran in the sport and I still think he is fun to watch. Trying to set a standard for MMA athletes and their contracts is hard to do. He is 39 yrs old but I don't know his level of attraction to new MMA fans. Old school MMA fans, I think still like to see him fight. I say keep him!!!

I bet $5M is a lot less than Dana "I'm a King" White is making off these fights.....and not a scratch on his fugly mug for it.....Hell I don't think even Don King himself is sucking off his fighters more than White these days. Dana is now the biggest best leech in the fight business.

I like Dan. I think he's earned a payday like that.
