07:38 AM ET 10.29 | There seems little doubt that the Timberwolves will end up trading rights to Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio before next year's NBA draft.

Well done guys.

October 29, 2009  08:21 AM ET

I feel bad for the team that will buy his rights because the guy clearly wants to play for Knicks but NY's pick goes to Utah (thanks to the Marbury trade). And NY doesn't have any assets that will attract the Wolves...

Knicks desperately need a premier point guard. I'd say we go hard after Rondo next season or have Douglas start this season. After watching lastnights game against Miami I came to the safe conclusion that Duhon is at best a backup point guard on a team that runs a half court set. He's allergic to open lanes and attacking the basket...yikes!

it took you until last night ?
we knew this before he got here.....

not sure why minny doesn't want a 48th mediocre pg on their roster

They can trade his rights to the celtics for some old jock straps and some ****. Seems about right for mchail

Well I gave him the chance to work on his weaknesses this summer as he'll know what will take him to the next level after playing for DA...but hey somethings never change!

Why? It's not like they'll somehow be contender by making this trade. Rubio is the same age as a freshman right now... getting him at age 19 or 20 won't be at the downside of his career.

Wolves have A LOT of rebuilding to do. It's better that they work out their issues without Rubio on the team. They'd just be wasting the kid's time by having him here now, anyway... and probably get him even more disillusioned with Minnesota.

Rondo will not be the same player on the Knicks that he is on the Celtics. Be careful what you ask for. Better off getting and developing your own.

Since it appears the Knicks won't be signing two stars this coming free agency, they need to move to Plan B. I DON'T think Rubio is anything more than hype, but he might be the Knicks best shot at a major upgrade at PG.

Donnie, get the deal done for Rubio's rights.

October 29, 2009  10:22 AM ET

did anyone see flynn's stat line last night.....it looks like trading rubio's rights for a legitimate 2 or 3 would do wonders for them...better do it before he's exposed as the bust that he is!

October 29, 2009  10:27 AM ET

And of course, a trade is the only reason he isn't in the NBA now. He just doesn't want to play for Minnesota. Tis a shame they can't afford to do the right thing and freeze him out of the league until he understands he's playing in Minnesota, or not at all.

This city matters
and some kid from Spain who has been told how great he is will not go play in Minneapolis.
New York
Los Angeles
maybe Miami, Dallas even Phoenix
but not Minnesota, sorry

lol.....stop it
Rubio - even if he turns into a real good player-
would take 3-4 years AT BEST
- we can't wait THAT long.

Ps- No rondo either

It's going to be tough to get a team to trade something good NOW for a player with an upside. Like jgb said: "3-4 years AT BEST." The Wolves GM must have a lead or two to work on, so lets start a bidding war and get some players in here! WELCOME TO THE WOLF DEN!

I saw a good bit of that game. Flynn had a good night. He also was big in the clutch at the free throw line. The Nets gave that game away because they had a big lead coming into the fourth quarter. However if you are a Net fan you have to be encouraged by Brook Lopez. He looked good out there. Just sucked they blew that game though.

brook had a MONSTER game.....i knew he was a decent player after last season, but i didnt realize he had that type of game in him.....who knew vince was holding him back? lol!

Sorry, unless LBJ surprises us, Knicks fans WILL WAIT 3-4 years anyhow. Not sure who else is available that would/might make a difference. Without taking a chance, Knicks will replace Duhon with a Duhon-caliber player that better fits D'Antoni's system.

PS - Rondo looked GOOD opening night.

I've never seen him play.. but there seems to be an inordinate dislike for this kid that I don't quite understand. Europe or not, he's been playing pro ball for a few years now and producing at a rate that has the NBA pretty interested.

Everyone seems to think he sucks... except the folks in the NBA that are jockeying to get him on their team.

I have a feeling that he's going to surprise a lot of people and do very well when he gets here.
