Lesnar didn't appear sick at Vikings game

Despite reports that UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar had fallen so ill that he couldn't properly prepare for his UFC 106 title defense against Shane Carwin, it appears the former WWE superstar was well enough to make a cameo at the Minnesota Vikings football game on October 18th. Lesnar, a Minnesota native and "former" Vikings player, not only appeared fit and healthy as he and his family watched the Vikes take a 33-31 victory over the Baltimore Ravens inside the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN, but he was strong enough to give their ginormous pre-game horn a powerful toot as well.

This will be a short reign.....

Clearly if he is healthy enough to sit down and watch a football game, he is well enough for a 25 minute championship fight.

October 29, 2009  10:35 AM ET

I don't see what the big deal is, I dont like Lenar not at all a fan, but give the guy a break. So he took his family to a football game, I dont think thats enough to say he is well enough to fight and train for a fight, I mean it was a home game, in a dome its not like he was at Lambeau in 30 below or something...

My buddy went to and tailgated at a Buffalo Bills game with pnemonia, so what's this articles point besides to stir the pot against Lesnar?

October 29, 2009  10:58 AM ET

This is all BS! I'm not sure what type of viral infection Lesnar has but has anyone out there had viral bronchitis before? I had it a few years ago and most of the time you feel pretty ok...a little run down but once the initial symptoms subside, you're almost 100%. That is until you try and do something active. For about six weeks after getting sick, anytime I tired to work out, even lightly, my chest would burn like crazy and I'd cough uncontrollably, and these were just tiny workouts compared to what these fighters go through. I couldn't even imagine training with a chest cold and if Brock came in all out of shape, his fans (or anti-fans) would have a fit. Give the guy a chance to heal up and see how he looks in January!!!!

Ok, thats a decent and well thought out point.

October 29, 2009  11:25 AM ET

So Did Mir, when he showed up to that UFC event to postpone his fight with Brock cause his knee popped during training, he got injured but he seemed fine on the show.

That's just BS from people who still flame Brock. I dont like the guy, his anthics are pathetic, for me he's just a huge hillbilly who got lucky... but he can fight, and he's the real deal, eventhough i really really really hope that Carwin kicks his A $ $ i think Brock will beat him up...

October 29, 2009  11:32 AM ET

I hate brock. But I don't think he CAN lie about these things.
Think about it. Don't you think UFC would check before canceling their main event? they lose millions! A lot of people will not pay for the PPV now. Fans won't fill in the arena, etc.

he did look fine on the game. But one thing is show up to watch a game, another is to fight for 25 minutes against someone as big as him.
He got his biggest challenge now. It is not time for him to come out of shape.

Conflicted??? Tame the demons brother. LOL...I think Carwin and Brock will be legendary, and White will ham it up to pull in huge PPV #s. The fight will be a good kick off of '10

a very solid post. People are going to bash Lesner no matter what he does. I had a mild flu a few weeks ago and when i went to lift weights a few days afterwords i thought i was going to die. Everything ached and felt sore. Lesner isnt the dummy everyone thinks he is. He knows this fight is important and didnt want to go out if he wasnt 100%

October 29, 2009  12:27 PM ET

IF the guy is sick he's sick I can accept that but normally when you are sick and it requires you to be miss work I would expect as his employer that you are doing everything you possible can to return to work and not out and about at events that give the perception of being ok. at the very least as his employer it would raise an eyebrow. and i'm sure it has with dana but i'm fairly certain dana will allow as much leeway as possible to his cash-cow.

Yeah, that makes sense. Do you think before you type? I'm sure if he can SIT and WATCH a football game that he is well enough TO GET IN A LOCKED CAGE WITH A MONSTER THE SAME SIZE AS HIS-SELF, WRESTLE, PUNCH, GRAPPLE AND GO TO WAR. I'm sure he can FIGHT FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP, FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE PRETTY MUCH AND DEFEND HIMSELF. I mean, that's just like SITTING AND WATCHING FOOTBALL. Use your head idiot.

Just give the white ape man another bananna and he will be fine. Along with another double dose of steroids.

I am pretty sure that guy was being sarcastic.

A buddy of mine had this a few years ago and just like you he was fine until he had to do something physical. Brock like all fighters is a competitor and there is no way he is ducking this or any fight unless he physically can't compete. Which is the case.

He was being facetious! He didn't mean it like it was said, It was meant to be a joke! Not calling you out but if you read it again this way you will see it.

It wasn't serious - I was mocking FN for posting this idiotic garbage to begin with. Were they trying to imply that Brock was afraid of Carwin? It's stupid. There is a big difference between sitting down for 4 hours and fighting at championship levels for 25 minutes. Throw in 4 weeks of training too. I guess if you're not healthy enough to train for four weeks and fight at championship levels for 25 minutes, then you must be bedridden. It's just asinine logic they are using, and they need to remove the post entirely before it ruins their credibility (whats left of it).

Now if he had been PLAYING for the Vikings, I'd see their point.

October 29, 2009  01:30 PM ET

Wow...just because he was ok at that point doesnt mean he wasnt sick b4...and jus because he went to a game doesnt mean he wasnt sick....i guess when anyone gets sick they curl up in a ball and die....going to a game and training 5 hours a day to prepare for a title fight are 2 different things...this is such nonsense, once he knocks Carwin out in January everyone can shut there mouths.
