09:02 AM ET 10.29 | Hearing that Bobby Labonte, who drove the #96 Hall of Fame Racing Ford for the majority of the 2009 season and will finish out the season in the #71 TRG Chevy, recently visited Robby Gordon Motorsports. Supposedly Robby Gordon is considering starting a 2nd team for 2009. Gordon owns and driver the #7 Toyota.

Wow how the mighty have fallen....remember when Bobby Labonte actually got respect and was a driver to be reckoned with? Aaahhh the good ol JGR days....good times, good times.

I have always liked Bobby. I think if he was put in a decent car he could still compete !

October 29, 2009  12:35 PM ET

The 71 car would be a better ride, Robby just wants the past champion so his car will get in. He entered a 2nd car twice this year that I can remember and it didn't do anygood.

robby must be one hell of a business man...where is the bread coming from? his own car doesn't have a full-time sponsor.

He's not just a good business man, he's a good race driver. He's won a ton of money in many different racing categories. But it's hard to beat out those Sprint Cup teams with 4 cars and half a billion dollars behind them. Most recently, he's entered the biggest most grueling off-road race in South America. The Dakar Rally in Buenos Aires, Argentina has caught his intrest. He's entered it with his dad the last few years and has even won some stages of the race. He sports an H3 Hummer sponsored by Toyo.
He's won at pretty much every racing venue he's entered - CART - Off-Road - Motocross - NASCAR's Busch Series - He loves the Sprint Cup though. Win or lose, he still makes a ton of money. He's been in that guaranteed top 35 every year.

I can't depute what Robby has done in other racing sports and I agree he is a great racer.
He hasn't done well in Nascar.
Unless he just really wants the Nascar trophy, and is willing to spend all his money, he needs to focus on what he does best.

Must have been a BIG ROCK to crawl from under, you should have called me, I would have helped you! LMAO

Go Robby and all the other little guys, (teams that most of you rip for not being in the top ten). Seth thinks there should be just 10 cars on the track and everyone else is dirt worthless.

So you are saying that medium or back of the pack is fine with Robby?
YES, I can see that, He still has a big house, lots of money, and in the news.
DAMN, that could be me, had I had the money.

October 29, 2009  05:09 PM ET

No matter which ride Labonte takes.. he's ridin' in the back of the pack

October 29, 2009  07:45 PM ET

Mongo like to go round in circles

Got a lot of respect for Robby, same goes for Labonte. Would like to see it happen. But one guy visiting another guys shop is a long way from racing for him.
