Now that Tom Ricketts has control of the Cubs and Wrigley Field, he has plans to make immediate upgrades to the ballpark that turns 100 years old in 2014. Enough upgrades, he hopes, that Major League Baseball will agree to hold the 2014 All-Star Game at Wrigley.

Can he do something about the stench of urine that permeates the park?

October 31, 2009  11:41 AM ET

Does Ricketts have any interests in the construction industry?

Yea be careful when "upgrading" that venue. Its not like they want to jinx it by ruining the dynasty that is Cubs baseball. Only in Chicago could an entire town blame a mongoloid for costing them the pennant and STILL give us the stuttering idiot of a garden gnome currently residing in the white house.

Well done Chicago! You'll be on my christmas card list for years to come.

Only by moving it out of Chicago.

That is a nice sentiment but they have to keep up with the jonses. Massive upgrades or even a new stadium would increase their revenues. If they can take down Yankees stadium WRigley field can't be too far behind besides, it's a place of bad luck maybe a whole new stadium will help turn things around.

well when the players that call it home don't like it, maybe it is time to renovate... I don't mind the mystic of the old girl, but A) afraid of the food, B) Falling brick C) dirtiest bathrooms in all sports. The safest way to fix this place is take her down, play one season in the cell (yes i hate that idea as im a sox fan) and build a new retro stadium in the same spot like a Camden yards. If they start tearing things out, they may hurt the structure more than anything... and then you run the possibility of collapse. ok thats my rant for the morning.

And how has playing in good ol' historic Wrigley been working out for ya the past 100 years?

November 2, 2009  02:40 AM ET

Why tear down the one positive thing about your franchise? Renovate Wrigley over a couple of years while simultaneously increasing ticket prices every year. Out West all I hear about is how the Cubs haven't won in a century but going to the "friendly confines" is one of the best days a baseball fan can have. Keep the stadium, renovate to make the players happy, and lose the piss (apparently)

I agree not to mention this has to be cheaper then trying to build a new stadium anywhere near the old one.
