The Chicago Cubs would like to -- have to -- deal disgruntled outfielder Milton Bradley. And one player they are eyeing as a target destination is the Blue Jays, with center fielder Vernon Wells going to the Cubs in return.

Imagine if Toronto wins the lottery twice in one year all courtesy of Chicago (the first win being the Rios to Chisox deal).

Don't get me wrong, I hate Wells as a Jay fan and he is overpaid.

But, he may bounce back, just two seasons ago, he was often injured but in 108 games had 78 rbi, 20hr, and batted .300

But, if the Jays can do this trade, do it.

Your right, two lotteries win, save 35 million on two players.

As a Jays fan, I'd rather keep Wells and pray for a long-awaited rebound, than have angry Milton on board.

someone tell me... How is this big of a lose-lose deal grabbing the 1st headline spot of the day? Flippin redonculous!

October 31, 2009  10:43 AM ET

Whaaa? I must be taking crazy pills today. Wanting to trade for Vernon Wells?

Yeah really.... I didn't realize Vernon Wells was so bad that a Milton Bradley trade actually made sense to Blue Jay fans....

October 31, 2009  10:50 AM ET

The Cubs could then have maybe the two worst contracts in baseball.....Soriano and Wells.

October 31, 2009  10:51 AM ET

Is it time to over-spend for a player that is way past his due date already?

Wells gets, I think, 20 million per year to be amongst the weakest hitting center fielders in baseball. If the Jays could swap Wells for Bradley straight up they should do it and just release Bradley and eat the (I believe) two years remaining on his contract. They'll save a ton of money.

October 31, 2009  11:10 AM ET

Wells had a terrible year-
but he's not as bad as he was-
Bradley is, well.....permanantly insane-

I'd rather have Wells- but if this will prevent the Cubs from
making anyother moves- it's dumb....

Shipping damaged goods to Canada? Isn't that in violation of trade agreements? Great, now Canada will hate us too.

October 31, 2009  11:38 AM ET

Unless Wells has completely burned every bridge in every province in Canada, there is no way the BJ's make this deal...

As a Mets fan, I'd offer the Jays Luis Castillo for Wells. But they'd have to throw in Halladay otherwise its not a fair deal.

Why not?

Wells: 10:$12.5M, 11:$23M, 12:$21M, 13:$21M, 14:$21M

Bradley: 10:$9M, 11:$12M

Why wouldn't the Blue Jays want to save 77.5 Million dollars with this trade? Seems like a no brainer on the Blue Jays end to me.

Oh... I don't know... maybe because the guy is a nutcase?

October 31, 2009  12:15 PM ET

If I'm the Jays, I'd tried Vernon Wells for a slice of Chicago pizza (I'd even throw in a couple grand for pizza delivery costs).

There's not enough violence in canada with the exception of hockey which is really like a Barney the Dinosaur version of the MMA. I say trade this psychopath to Canada and let them get their blood going a little bit. Pacifist humps!
