Could Bulls lure Wade to Chicago?

No Bulls official has said Dwyane Wade will be the team's No. 1 priority next summer if he becomes a free agent. Still, as it stands, the Bulls are poised to be one of approximately seven teams with significant salary-cap space to pursue free agents in an unprecedented class that could include Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson. NBA officials are prohibited from discussing prospective free agents. But one Eastern Conference executive, speaking on the condition of anonymity, talked glowingly of a potential Derrick Rose-Wade pairing.

This would be huge for the Bulls with the young guns they already have, to get a seasoned closer that plays great defense like D Wade, the Celtics wouldn't like this at all.

But it still wouldn't matter to the Magic, they would still be the best in the East because they really got a lot better, and they could play and win games with any style. The Magic are scary...

D Wade plays great defense? What planet are you on, GhosTown?

Sure, D Wade can score and is a wonderful offensive player. But he plays ABSOLUTELY NO DEFENSE. He gets burned every night.

He has to go somewhere, it doesn't look like Miami is doing enough to keep him there.

What does he want them to do? Sign Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Mo Williams? This isn't NBA Live, where you can put all the good players on your own team. You need to be realistic, thickhead.

They traded for Jermaine ONeal and Quinten Richardson. What else does he want? Those are too solid guys to play with. ONeal is a legit low post presence.

The Bulls may not have enough to max deal a guy next summer. As of now they are already in for 37.5mil in salary for next year and thats without Thomas. If the cap drops to 50mil, like the league said it might, that would only leave the Bulls with 12.5mil in space, not enough to max deal a guy. The most important factor in this upcomming summer is where the cap ends up.

A players max salary for 7yr guys like Wade, LBJ, Bosh is determined by one of 3 things. Its either 11mil, 30% of the cap, or 105% of the last years salary, whichever is higher. With a declining cap the 105% is going to be the number and it means around 16.5mil for each of these guys. If any team does not have that kind of space they wont be able to get one of these guys.

good 2 posts marcus-

- if salmons chooses to opt out though they save almost 6m
which would give them the $$$.....but that's IF he does
and also they still would need to sign 4-5 more players

If the Bulls want Rose and Wade to play together, why don't they just send Rose to Miami ? They'll get to see their dream come true - only that the pair will be playing for the Heat.

Just kidding... obviously they would never do that. Then again, the Heat would be nuts to let go of Wade without a fight as well.

Pat Riley has done absolutely nothing that would make Wade think the Heat are committed to building a winner. Being a fan of D Wade, I'd like nothing better than to see him get the hell away from Riley. Having said that, I don't think Wade is as juiced about going home as the press would have us believe. Unfortunately we're going to be inundated with these stories until next July. Of all the above mentioned players I do think Wade is the one most likely to make a move.

Thats the cap not the luxury tax. Teams can sign free agents up to the luxury tax. This tears luxury tax number is 69.9 mill. the projected tax for next years is around 62. That leaves about 25 million for the Bulls. Easily enough room for Wade.

The summer of 2010 will be big and Chicago is no exception. Chicago does have a big chance of landing any of the big superstars. The team is made up of young and promising players. The team is on the rise unlike New York who are just basically making room for a superstar but w/ no supporting cast. DWade will be the #1 choice for Chicago and why not go for him when you get a chance?

Knicks and Pacers... really? there is no chance to win in Miami with that squad. Weather aside why stay in Miami?
