Pac 10 commissioner to meet with Blount

Pacific 10 Conference Commissioner Larry Scott said before Saturday night's game in Eugene that he planned on meeting Sunday with Oregon officials and LeGarrette Blount to discuss the running back's possible reinstatement. Oregon Coach Chip Kelly suspended Blount for the season after he punched Boise State's Byron Hout following Oregon's Sept. 3 season-opening loss in Idaho. If Oregon decides to allow Blount back on the team, the school would need approval from the Pac-10.

Let's hope he gets the message he wants. If not, he just might punch Larry Scott.

As long as he doesn't meet with Deion Sanders, he will be reinstated.

November 1, 2009  08:48 AM ET

He should be reinstated on Miami where his mentality and actions are encouraged.........

Yeah... great... Oregon just waxes the Trojans (now you get to hear my "WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR!" mantra) and they're going to reconsider giving that offense Blount back?

Zephyr... bud... I think we got hit by a Duck Truck last night.

I think the suspension for the entire season may have been a bit of an over reaction to begin with.
But if that was acknowledged early on they should have changed it to 4 or 6 games earlier in the season. It not appear to be more of a move by the team to load up the squad for the bowl season.

Are you kidding me?

Answer this for me, LF: What would justify a one year suspension? (besides being a scared kid - we know that scared kids are worthless and should be thrown out on the streets; but thugs deserve another chance!?!?!?!?!?)

Oh please...

... it was caught on camera, and the ballplayer went down.

You don't think guys punch, slap and cheap shot each other all the time in pileups during plays?

Be relaxed and realistic and know it's something that was caught and should be handled.

This guy may very well have problems beyond just punching another player.

However, in a sport as brutal as football, to think that punching another player is gonna bring so much controversy is ridiculous.

Almost the equivalent of being "shocked" at a fight during a hockey game.

They should let him come back and sit the bench. If last night's game proved anything it is that the ducks don't need this guy...Let him suit up, so he stops his crying, and watch as the rest of the team continues its amazing season. I'm a trojan fan...but gad damn, we got our asses hand to us last night. Congrats Oregon, great game and good luck the rest of the way.

I just checked to rankings this morning. Maybe I am too early but it seems that usc is still 4th and Oregon has moved up to 10th. How does that work? Oregon thrashes USC and USC stays in the top 4?

They should offer him a boxing scholarship.....

I saw that too. I think they have updated records but not rankings.

We definitely got our asses handed to us last night. That's ok. People better enjoy it while they can. The next 2 to 3 years, look REALLY good for us.

I just woke up...this makes way more sense seeing as VT lost this week and they certainly won't move up in the rankings for that one!

Sure...if our D can figure out how to tackle that freshman running back that ran all over us last night.

I was so glad to see Oregon put a lot of damage to USC...

... the fact the Trojans were ranked so high after losing to UW was crazy.

Also, heard a guy on ESPN radio who favors the BCS over a playoff.

What POSSIBLE reason could anyone want to have a polling system as opposed to letting teams play in playoffs at the end of the year?

Is there ANY sport besides college football where a champion is granted by a poll?

Yeah, the rankings don't get changed until later today, but they update the records right after the game ends.

Because this wasn't the first mistake he made, and because he attacked another player, then his own teammates, and then some fans.
