Derek Lowe might find himself on the trading block after one year in Atlanta.

I wish the "Globe" would quit beatin' around the bush and get to the point in this article.

One sentence?!?!?!?

This just in: "I love lamp."

lol...if the mets had signed him he likely would be rehabbing
from tommy john surgery as we speak.....

He's pretty overpaid with too many years left to be traded
for equal value- not sure who would take his contract on....
maybe the Angels if/when they lose Lackey?

"Will Braves shop Lowe?"

That would be pretty harsh seeing as Atlanta is the coporate base of Home Depot.

What......................................Lowe, not Lowes?

Never mind.

I'm preaching a Lowe/Ryan Church for Juan Pierre trade

If the Braves are serious about trying to move Lowe, they're going to have to eat some $$ (since they foolishly insisted on overpaying for him with minimal competition for his services). In his best days, Lowe was a very, very dependable #2-3 starter. Now that his best days are passing by, he's perhaps one of the 2-3 most expensive #4's in baseball (props to Barry Zito on winning that award now 3 years running!). My guess is that the Braves will eventually move him, but will have to eat around $4M each year on his remaining 2 years. I'd be willing to bet that the Mets, Red Sox, Orioles, and Giants will have an open mind to the notion of adding Lowe, but not in a straight trade alone.

Unfortunately, on the Braves he's a #5 right now.... and the Braves have Kawakami as an option if they are able to dump Lowe.... he was still productive with 15 wins, but obviously overpaid.... maybe some AL East team with more dollars than sense can take him.... for free.... and the Braves can take that money and get a corner outfielder.... I know, wishful thinking....

If they would have been smart last year, they would have signed Glavine and saved themselves a ton of money concerning Lowe. But there GM isn't too bright. This is not the first time the bozo has screwed up. Loyalty isn't in the GM's vocab unfortunately!!

The problem with that is that Glavine was obviously done and everyone knew it. You may have noticed his phone never rang with any other job offers. As for loyalty, it does not really exist in sports anymore.
I think Wren has done a pretty good job so far.

I think the Braves could trade him to the Angels if they eat around $3 million a year.

Do the Braves need an outfielder?

Gary Matthews Jr. for Lowe straight up??

If there is a God, he will not become a Met.

Nothing against the guy, as he is a pretty good pitcher but I just have wayy too easy of a time picturing him in a Mets uni going 10-9, 3.30 ERA with 12 no decisions while spending $15mil +

Gary Matthews Jr. is a weak-hitting centerfielder, not the corner OF RBI guy the Braves need for their line-up. The Angels were foolish to offer Matthews that contract (much like the Dodgers with Pierre in the same of-season), and now he's a very rich 4th OF. Matthews would be a 4th OF behind McLouth on the Braves depth chart... Lowe is more valuable to them. That trade would never, ever happen.
