Marbury clashes with Knicks security

Stephon Marbury didn't exactly get a hero's welcome when he came back to the Garden Saturday night to see his former team play its home opener. The former Knick guard left in a huff when told by security to go to his correct seat. The latest bizarre chapter in the Marbury saga took place in the first quarter. According to Garden security sources, Marbury held a ticket for a seat in Row A, the second row off the court, in his first trip back to New York since getting bought out by the team last season. But instead, he took a courtside seat, in Row AA, near Spike Lee's regular seat, across from the Knicks' bench. The entire episode might not have been entirely Marbury's fault. Sources said a Knicks official sat Marbury in the wrong row when he got to the Garden. But when he was asked to move to his correct seat by security guards, he decided to leave the arena entirely.

Well, at least this is better than his Youtube videos.

Marbury would "rather leave than be subjected to second-class status", eh ?

Isn't that the same approach he took as a player, when he preferred to sit out rather than come off the bench ?

In other words, he wants to be treated "first class" all the time. If he can't be a starter, he quits or retires, and if he can't get the front-row seat, he simply leaves the game entirely.

Hey Stef ... stop buying your tickets from Pookie on the corner and you might get the seats you want!

The latest bizarre chapter in the Marbury saga....

um- this is not bizarre
this is a guy who paid for a ticket that sat in the wrong seat
and was told to move.....

He's done plenty of 'bizarre' things....this aint' one

November 1, 2009  09:45 AM ET

gotta work on the anger management, being asked to move to the correct seat is not a big deal

November 1, 2009  10:04 AM ET

Smart money says Marbury knew what he was doing, and left when he couldn't get away with it. My designated seat was clearly printed on my ticket. I'm pretty sure Marbury's was too.

And to think the Celtics offered to resign him.

Well I've sat in the wrong seat at variosu events as I'm sure many of have (whether it's to get a better seat or by accident) and when asked to move, most of us would just move, not storm off in a huff. So while this isn't in Marbury's Top 10 Bizarre Moves, it is pretty odd.

November 1, 2009  04:11 PM ET

Why is this even news?. Everyone already knows he's a whack job. Just move on! He's no longer in the NBA. Bye Bye!!

November 1, 2009  06:10 PM ET

It's over for Starberry.

Looks like everyone here is missing the point. "Sources said a Knicks official sat Marbury in the wrong row when he got to the Garden." This is about Knicks officials or management, screwing more crap up!

So he was seated in the wrong place and when asked to move he decided to leave? Sorry, but people make mistakes. I wouldn't just walk out if I was asked to take my assigned seat even if I was seated improperly. He may have paid a lot for his seat but I'm sure the people in the front row paid more and didn't want to change seats because someone placed Marbury there by mistake.

I guess we want to take everything starburry do and make it into something. He is out the leauge let us let him regret his career in peace!!!

bitter much?
That was not his fault if Thei sit him in that place.
If they would have sit him in his right place to begin with, then you can pin this on him.
But I tend to agree with him. They gave him an "upgrade" when they sat him in the wrong sit. They should not have gotten back and take it away from him. Simple as that.

I don't know about Marbury, but I would not be some place I'm not wanted.

November 2, 2009  09:35 AM ET

Well I guess Marbury crawled out from under his bridge and wanted a seat in the Garden...I thought he didn't like the direction the current management team was going (Like his iteration was any better...) His fault or the offical's, who knows??? Point being this clown has a way of making himself unwanted whereever he goes...

Maybe we have been too hard on Stephon and now are ready to jump on his every mistake or misspoken word...Then again, maybe he's a jackass that has brought this stuff on himself...
