Ricky Hatton is best known as a heavy hitting boxer who suffered two high profile losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. And now, Randy Couture hopes that the two-time IBF and IBO light welterweight champion will try his hand at MMA, and is willing to train the British professional boxer in ground game if he comes to the UFC.

Dude needs to retire while his brain still functions. 2 bad knockouts is enough... Imagine Pacquiao's knockout punch on Hatton with the much much lighter gloves? Might be lights out...

He's brained must be scrambled enough already from his last fight with Manny that he cant think think straight anymore. Time to call it a day Ricky.

November 1, 2009  11:42 AM ET

Couture can show Hatton how to lose since Randy doesn't seem to win either anymore.

Couture needs to give it up also. Isn't he 47 and half dead already. Dana needs to either get an old goat used up MMA Senior citizen over the hill division and put the Hendersons and Coutures-Liddell's and Colemans in it. Sad to see this. Hatton is an absolute pasty faced white corpuscle depleted punch drunk clown. Heck he got drilled and Ko'd with padded 8oz gloves on he would get killed with the mitts. Hatton has no defense ground game isn't important because the first good hit he will crumble like a Liddell.

Bad, bad idea!!

Doesn't make any sense. Take a great brawler like Hatton who has had his clock rung big time in two championship bouts and then try and make him and MMA fighter. It make the MMA look second-class.

All of you are wrong. Just because Couture has lost his last two fights doesn't make him less of a coach. Hell, I would love to train with Randy. Beside, his last two fights were against excellent fighters (Lesnar and Norg). Let me get this correct: All of you (1 - 5) are saying that a boxer cannot turn into a MMA fighter trained by one-hell-of-fighter? Wrong. Will Hatton become a MMA fighter? No. Randy, please train/coach someone else who already has a solid wrestling background or BJJ experience.

First off, Hatton would be the best striker in the UFC so getting hit wouldn't be the problem. He could easily stand with anyone in the UFC and probably knock them out. The problem is he has no ground game and he isn't going to pick it up in 6 months. As far as your comments on Randy go, you are an idiot. While he may be 48 he is going to easily handle Vera who is about half his age.

November 1, 2009  07:28 PM ET

bad idea, boxers aren't used to getting hit without pillows on their fists for one.

November 1, 2009  07:43 PM ET

couture needs to stop it. as for hatton, boxing is only a fraction of mma. he has alot of work to do. the most mediocre welterweight will put hatton in a coma without ever punching him.

A higher grade than you. Scubber? What a **** name. Probably from scrubbing toilets or scrubbing your boyfriend's arse. Please , don't respond. All of us can tell you lack intelligence. Now, go clean my toilet scrubber.

Couture needs to hang it up. He sure trained Carano well. Too many blows to the head, too many wives and ex wives make a guy punch drunk. Hatton is one of the worst examples of anything he is an english boxer/pug who can't fight period.

poor thing pitiful little man.

Couture is doing anything to keep his name in the news outside of winning a match. His wife, Carano being trained, now Hatton. Couture is grasping for anything to make himself relevant in MMA but his popularity is being deminished by these embarrassing losses lately. Let him and Liddell just fight each week.

November 2, 2009  09:50 AM ET

He must want to help Hatton come to the UFDC and get knocked out. Hatton is a come forward fighter with no really good defense because he has too much faith in his chin. Pac took care of that and so would many other MMA fighters. Problem is Randy, you are asking him to come to the UFC but Ricky fights at 140 so unless you mean WEC then Hatton isn't coming to the UFC because he is way too small for 155.

Pillows? Ever seen Fight Science? Because boxers, with those "pillows" on their hands throw punches that are equivalent of hitting someone in the head with a sledgehammer. Martial Artists don't come anywhere near the 1000 pounds PSI and higher of force that boxers punch with. It takes a Muay Thai knee to top that amount of force.
