Barcelona have not given up hope of prising Robinho away from Manchester City in the winter transfer window. They believe a loan deal could be on the cards, according to a report. The Blaugrana have made their interest in the Brazilian public. The 25-year-old has responded in kind, stating that he could become the best player in the world at Camp Nou.

Robinho is really starting to annoy the living sht out of me. Try being adequete at Man City before claiming you'll be the best in the world at Barcelona.

Welcome to the Brazilian experience - they've been annoyed with Robinho for nearly two years now.

Explains Dunga's fascination with Nilmar, I suppose. Every since Pele called him out publicly it seems Robinho has been living on borrowed time.

again, why does Barca want him???

November 2, 2009  09:40 AM ET

Why is Barca overly pursuing Robinho? He would be an expensive back-up, and I don't think they really need one considering they have Pedro and Bojan. Plus, it's sure to disrupt team chemistry.

We all know Robinho is talented but we also know that he is a royal pain. Mark Hughes is saying the right things but I think he would love nothing more but to be rid of Robinho and make him Guardiola's problem.

I think Barca can handle Robinho but they are taking a real chance bringing him into that situation.

My uneducated guess is to be a replacement to Thierry Henry. Just a complete stab in the dark guess on my part and I only wait for more educated Barca fans to berate me for saying it.

November 2, 2009  09:52 AM ET

Weren't his previous moves going to prove this?

That he would say such a thing not only shows his delusional arrogance, but also reveals why he wouldn't be a good fit in the great team concept at Barca.

Hova, that's the only thing I can figure. So no berating from here!

November 2, 2009  10:16 AM ET

sounds like the best explanation to me, though doubt he will have as stellar a career as henry has had.

November 2, 2009  10:29 AM ET

certainy VERY BIG shoes to fill. is he even healthy and playing?

I was being a little funny but sometimes when I throw things out, I always find someone comes out to attack me so I was bracing myself.

To me it's a logical replacement, despite Robinho's ego.

It makes perfect sense Hova, its not like you can rely on Ibra on a Wednesday night anyways lol

Plus I'm sure Robinho would love to stick it to RM for "gasp" actually offering him as a makeweight in '08 when they were persuing Ronaldo. Maybe Guardiola can slap some sense into the boy.

Someone do me a favor, or all of you, work blocks out my ability to do this - but I will later... Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback surmises that 40-50k people would be the average attendees of an NFL team in London, and "only" 8 teams in the Premier League average that..... uhhmmm... 8 out of 20 teams "only" average that is because only 8 teams have seating capacities over 40,000, and only 2 more than 50k. 8 out of 20 teams "only" average that because they play more than 8 home games, considerably more counting all the extra competitions outside of the league-only view he took. The NFL Int'l Series has a higher attendance because it's a one-off event, in England's *National* Stadium, purposefully built for such one-off type of events.

Maybe if enough of us take a voice here, he'll make note of it in his Tuesday Edition of MMQB. Talk about one-sided reporting making it sound like a less-than sport... damn!

i have always HATED PK with a passion. he analyzes subjectively too often. I still can't get his 'Top 100 of Right Now' taste out of my mouth. Vince Young and Reggie Bush were in the top 15 before they ever took a snap!

isn't most of a team's revenue made in tv rights and merchandise? are there enough fans to support this, because attendance figures for an annual event doesn't correlate well.

November 2, 2009  11:07 AM ET

Robinho isn't going to Barcelona, not with Valencia on the verge of a fire sale and David Villa soon to be made available. Besides, Barcelona feels no pressure to add another non-Spaniard big name to the squad with the state of Madrid's defense right now. "Slapping sense into the boy," is the typical rubbish from English-centric football fans - that any player who's from anywhere but the UK must be treated as petulant child. Guardiola isn't that type, in case you've bothered to notice in the last year; he's far too intellectual for that kind of crap.

Guardiola is so intelligent it's almost scary. And the man has many many years ahead of him to prove this point.

I believe the salary cap is decided based on TV revenue mostly, with standard ticket sales also factored into that somehow which brings the blackout rules. Pretty sure the revenue revenue is mostly from luxury boxes these days, which gives you Dallas' new stadium as a result, where the nose bleeds are literally that... and the godzilla-tron being necessary to see the game from that distance. But that also brings up another point. 40-50k in 90k seat Wembley will mean blackout after blackout.

I think you're being overly sensitive here. I didn't find anything in that column that I saw as disrespectful of soccer in anyway. You're quoting from an email someone sent him. Not what he actually wrote. His one comment on the email was this: "One difference: Kids here know and emulate David Beckham, and you see how tough a road pro soccer has had in this country. I would think an NBA team would have an easier time working in London than an NFL team." That actually sounds complimentary of soccer - acknowledging that the sport is more successful here than the NFL is in England.

Can't be this thin-skinned and looking for things to be offended about.
