Tim Donaghy will be released from federal prison Wednesday, according to consultants the ex-NBA referee has hired to ease his post-prison transition. Donaghy, who lost his job and was sentenced to 15 months for providing inside information to gamblers, hopes to find a job in sales or marketing, according to a press release issued last night by Executive Prison Consultants.

Sales or marketing???? How about flipping burgers? That seems more attainable.

I guess he can scratch "bookie" from the career list...

Who is going to trust this guy, I mean if gets a Job for Verizon he will prob leak out some information to Sprint about their new phones.

November 2, 2009  09:23 AM ET

Well, we know for a fact he won't be refereeing anytime soon...

November 2, 2009  09:42 AM ET

I think he is going to take Jose Canseco's idea and write a book. There are enough people out there that will want to read about what went on.

Anyone want to bet this guy makes a million?

Anyone want to bet how long he can keep it?

He's already written a book, the problem is no publishing company wants to publish it for the fear of being sued by the NBA.... he'll probably be on 20/20 or something with some kind of exclusive interview instead

So far the Stern Mafia has put the skids on the book...I guess they are trying to figure out how to spin it as a marketing tool prior to release....

Ha ha ha ha. Where is this guy going to work? Oh man! Good luck making a living buddy. You're gonna need it!

November 2, 2009  11:26 AM ET

He will live off his infamy like Canseco,Rose etc....

November 2, 2009  12:35 PM ET

Bubba will miss him

Has anyone ever really considered if this guy is telling the truth? Yes, he is a convict. But does that make him a liar too? I think they should look into this just like they did steriods in baseball.

November 2, 2009  01:12 PM ET

We have not heard the last of this guy. Guaranteed!

With any side of the story, there's always an element of truth...True, the element may be infintisemal, but it is always there...I personally think there is some truth to what he said, but the best lie detector in any story is time...In time, stuff will come about to prove wheter he was right or wrong......

He should wait till the "Kings" go to Vegas - Then he can apply with the Maloof's as the offical odds-maker for the team....

Unless somebody investigates then time will not do anything but brush it under the carpet. Lord Stern has already done his part to make sure that nothing comes out from Dounaghy. Somebody mentioned here that he already stopped the book from being published. How can the NBA sue the publisher? The NBA has to prove that the story is false.

Really?
In which case you should add 80% of the MLB players on that list too. All are cheaters!
And I don't beleive for ONE second that he was the ONLY bad apple. Stern is shutting this guy down bigtime. Conseco stood his ground, and now he's pretty much vindicated. All those big hitters were cheats!
Donaghy just got caught. Doesn't mean that he's the only cheat in NBA. Just a matter of time....

WTF??? I never said there are no other "bad apples" in the NBA,MLB etc...what I said was he will make a living off his infamy or this ordeal like Canseco and Rose did with the books, interviews etc...regardless if they were wrong or right....reading comprehension is not one of your strengths I see...get a grip bro...

How bout we forget what he plans to do and find out how many other refs were involved? For years many people would swear pro sports had alot of tampering and people would dismiss it but they were right. Watch the tapes of this guy and it was so obvious, the NBA had to know. The refs and umps sometimes have tampered just to help someone break a record or to decide what teams get to the championship. Look at the games and you see how blantant its been in the NBA and you know some of its coming from the top. David Stern has to have been involved.
