Marbury: Knicks should fire D'Antoni

Had Stephon Marbury stayed longer at the Knicks game Saturday night, he might have broken into a chant: "Fire D'Antoni!" Marbury had no complaints that Garden security did not let him stay in a first-row courtside seat during Saturday night's home opener, but still has a beef with the Knicks head coach, feeling Mike D'Antoni should be fired in favor of Mark Jackson. They don't play no defense," Marbury told The Post yesterday. "The coaching is horrible. Horrendous. They need a new coach, and I'm speaking as a fan and New Yorker. They say good coaches get the most out of players and win games. I don't see it. Mike needs to coach a team with three All-Stars."

Look who's talking about defense. Marbury is a jealous immature hypocrite. We don't even need yoou as a Knicks or NBA fan. You were a cancer as a player; now that y're not playing cos nobody wants you y're still being a cancer. Get a life pal! Seriously I think he should be banned from the garden and told not to say or write anything about the Knicks or the NBA for the rest of his life. THERES NOTHING GOOD IN THAT MORON!

D'Antoni is not a good defensive coach...

... that's been proven on his BEST teams in Phoenix.

As for Marbury... he wasn't exactly known as T.R. Dunn on defense himself.

Classic case of the messenger not being liked, but the message being accurate.

Hey New York you created STARbury, now you have to deal with him......good luck.

What's wrong, Marbury - no one in Europe wants your selfish arse either?

The Knicks fired the right person.

November 3, 2009  07:47 AM ET

He may be right with some of the things he said about "D" and all that, but this should not be coming from his mouth, given his history with the club. He just appears bitter.

Just move one Marbury, close the book, and move on. For all of us.

If you live in New York you know that the NY Post has this love thing with Marbury. He had a problem career because of his attitude, why are paying attention to anything he says.

Hehe - not a bad comment. I like it !

However, it does fall a bit short - doesn't quite hit the mark.

The big picture - *both* Marbury *and* the Knicks are has-beens who currently suck.

They each had their glory days in the past - 10+ years ago - but they have both faltered badly.

In a sense, they were made for each other, because each can point fingers and try to damage the other, while they are *both* being laughed at by the rest of the league.

Hehehe. :)

Its true though regardless how crazy Marbury really is, Mike system does not win championships and does not bring a defensive presence within the team.

November 3, 2009  08:30 AM ET

Don't let your dislike for the player render his words pointless. Does the man make avalid point? So far, I have to agree with him.

November 3, 2009  08:37 AM ET

"They don't play no defense"....man, that's intelligent right there Stephon. Think maybe you should have paid a little better attention in class (the couple of days you actually went, that is)?

I be Stephon Marbury and I be knowing all there is to know about basketball. I be the best player the NBA and the world has ever seen.

Really? That must be why all the other NBA teams (and every other professional team on the planet) are beating down your door to get you on their team, huh?

What a waste of air this guy is.

November 3, 2009  08:40 AM ET

To think that another team is going to pick up this lightning rod next year-lets not hold our breath for that one...

November 3, 2009  08:42 AM ET

The coach isn't the biggest problem the Knicks have. Maybe their problems start at the top of the franchise and just work the way down? Never has 1 team made so many bad player personnel decisions.

They took Darko and his 7.5 million dollar salary. 84,000,000 payroll this year! They suck at everything. They are banking on signing LeBron and are basing their entire franchise around this fact. Basing everything around a free agent is a bad way to run a franchise.

A crazed former player comments on an incompetent coach. Good call moonbat.

What??? You're stupid. That was just plain dumb. I would ask you to explain your nonsensical cackling, but I won't because I'm sure you don't understand it yourself. Moron.
