Back channel buzz from Spain says Villarreal striker Jozy Altidore could return early from his Hull City loan spell if the English club's money situation worsens.

I'm all for this at the moment. Hull is in a world of trouble, Brown only has a few more weeks, and having a new coach could do more harm for Jozy than good.

The best thing he can hope to do is go back to Villarreal, go out on loan somewhere in January where he can actually play and hope to get sold in the summer. The La Liga experiment is never really going to happen for him.

That sounds a little pre-mature. Maybe not at Villareal, but he certainly could play elsewhere in La Liga.

PS. You got to love the Fulham win over Liverpool though!

It doesn't look like Hull is working out for him, but is he really going to get a chance at Villareal? He's got to play in order to be sharp for WC 2010. That's the most important thing for him right now.

whatever villareal is doing right now doesnt seem to be working well for them... who knows what jozy's reintroduction to VR might do

Can you be loaned out twice in a season from a third club who holds your registration, or does that bump up against the FIFA rule on "two teams a year?"

People wrote off Pompey and they found a buyer and some form. It's a serious situation at Hull but it's also a long season. We'll see what happens.

I suppose anything is possible, but really, has any other team played soooo bad so regularly this year? Hull really would need quite a revival to turn this ship around....

If Vennegoor of H keeps playing so ineffectively, we may see Jozy up top or see them try two strikers again (even though it didn't work very well last time).

PS Jozy is in quite the scoring slump though.... He just needs a goal....

I was happy and sad at the same time. Liverpool is my "second" team when it comes to the top four. I've got a bit of a mancrush on Torres. lol.

But it was good to see Ol' Bobby and Clint get on the scoresheet. I love Zamora and his work ethic. He just needs to score a bit more so people would get off his back.

Villareal wants him. They know that Rossi is merely a rental player.... he wants in at Juventus at all costs. When he was loaned out this year, it was explicitly done so the way it was as he is in their long term plans... sell his rights under no circumstances.

November 3, 2009  09:53 AM ET

Hull has 8 pts, Pompey 7 pts. 18th place is Blackburn with 10 pts. That's one win on one weekend. Keep that kind of separation and you have a chance to reload in the winter. At minimum, they could still have a chance at safety. [I'm not saying they'll catch fire and fly past Chelsea for the title, or anything like that.] The only teams I write off this soon are the ones who refuse to spend on promotion and seem destined for, say, a Derby-esque 11 pts. With these teams on pace for the 30s, I think it'll be a long and competitive season for the bottom of the table.

Rossi wants Juventus at all costs ... that's counter to every thing being said at the moment. Agents and players can be fickle creatures, too.

Villarreal finally seems to have turned a corner over the weekend - they literally thumped a team 5-0 finding their scoring touch. Villarreal isn't the place for Jozy - there's nobody left there from when he was acquired - and since Nilmar arrived everything about the attack is going through him. La Liga is all about movement and technical ability on the ball, and the league does not play to Jozy's strengths.

Well lets be honest, Hull were going to go down in the end..its a Rugby League town, not a football town at heart!

Very true. Hull is all about rubgy above everything else. And, yes, Hull is going down.

The only times I've seen Hull generate anything attractive going forward they used Jozy and Ghilas as a classic big and small striker tandem with Geovanni feeding them the ball. If Phil Brown has got only this last game against Stoke - which seems to be the current press release from this rudderless club - they're going to have to do it without Geovanni who got red-carded against Burnley. Not a good situation.

How about this assessment:

"Clint still hasn't scored this season for Fulham in league play, but one feels that if his recent intensity is any sign, he should be scoring soon."

An soon aftter, he did just that....
