Torrey Galida, a former Ford and Roush Fenway Racing executive who most recently was president of the motorsports division for sports marketing company Millsport, has taken a new job as executive vice president and chief marketing officer of TRG Motorsports. Galida said the team would like for Bobby Labonte, the 2000 Cup champion, to drive next year.

Bobby, get out before Nascar has to close the doors.

I'd like to see what he could do in better equipment, but TRG is better than nothing and has had some nice runs this year.

Isn't this a bit inaccurate? I'm under the impression that a top 35 finish the previous year guarantees the "owner" a spot in the 1st 5 races. And that a previous champions gets 6 starts during the year, provided he's the most recent champion attempting that race.

And who exactly is the most recent champion attempting a race that is not already locked into the top 35 via owners points......

He's a good driver. A good car would help. Martin should have retired like he said he was going to do. But, hunger to be a title holder was strong. He got the ride he wanted, but is going to come up short. Not his fault that much. It is the stupid chase format. Now we have to wait and see if he actually races next season. If he doesn't win next year is he going to ask for an extension? Hope not. There are a lot of young drivers out there that are not able to go up the ladder because of him and a few others hanging on. Become an owner Mark. Maybe you can win a title that way. Put an asterisk by Johnson's name....totally different for his titles than the others. He is so so lucky. If not for the chase format he might have 1 title at the most. System sucks just like the racing sucks because it is so boring. Maybe Bobby should go to some other type of racing. nascar might not be around too much longer the way they are going. Bobby should go to Le Mans series racing. Lots of fun and exciting racing. They also race at night and in the rain and are very fast!!!

Good Comment...ALMS is strong racing with alot of seasoned drivers...the GT1 and GT2 divisions are great...the Corvettes do well in GT1...but the circuit is obscure to most as the masses don't identify with M3's...they think they're tanks or automatic weapons...
