Fisher's last season with Titans?

For years, Jeff Fisher has nurtured his relationship with Bud Adams. It paid off with uncommon job security and unchallenged authority on everything from hiring and firing assistant coaches to having the final word on personnel decisions. But the events of the past two weeks have created a disconnect between the owner and the coach. Think of it as a fissure between Bud and Fisher. Frankly, it is the kind of thing that could lead to a change at the top. Fisher is under contract with the Titans through the 2011 season. But all bets are off.

Time for Fisher to take his talents elsewhere. He won't have any problems finding a new gig. Otis, for one, wants him to replace Philips in big D.

I think Bud will give him one more year to turn it around

November 4, 2009  07:07 AM ET

Bud will let him stay through the contract (2011). After that, he'll move on IMO.

They'll be hard pressed to find a better Coach....

November 4, 2009  07:11 AM ET

agree....they need to get younger and keep Fisher

Damn skinny!!!

Morning all...

I think Jeff is a fine coach but I also think that it's time for a change of scene for both him and the team

Unless the Titans stage a big turnaround in the second half of the season, Adams will get seduced by one of the big-name coaches on the market and make a change. It won't be an improvement, but it will be a change.

Fisher would make a fine coach for the 'Skins, but rumor has it that Snyder will hire the QB coach at Lower Alabama Polytechnic. The guy has no head coach or coordinator experience at any level. He's perfect for the job.

Morning Chico - you feel better now that Little Danny has apologized?

November 4, 2009  07:35 AM ET

Frankly...consider it as a fissure...all bets are off. Is there a single point of fact in this stupid article? The wheels have fallen off Kerry Collins. Their D is adjusting without Haynesworth. This is a team that could go 7-9 this year and set up Young for the future. Fisher is the best person to make that happen. He's been great with Tenn, he's not going anywhere.

It shows he cares..... About his revenue.

He may have taken a gander at the remaining games this season, and see that we'll be lucky to win 2 games out of the last 9.

7-9 (meaning 7-3 after that ridiculous start) might just keep Fisher there...

Bud Adams has a history of making impulsive, foolish decisions with his Head Coaches. So we will see...

I like the Redskins strategy, positioning themselves for the draft. Plus the possibility of Fisher at the helm next season.

No its not time for Fisher to leave, he is not going any where. He has done a great job taking below average teams and getting the best out of them. This article is completely false!!

I also see Fisher finishing his contract and moving on. He probably could use a change of scenery and there will likely be a lot of teams interested in his services.

You'll note how the good teams trade down from that "coveted #1." To sign these early picks, you have to put big bucks into multi-year contracts for unknown quantities. It's way too much of a crapshoot. Good teams understand this. For every Payton Manning, there's a Ryan Leaf.

The real secret to drafting is scouting. Those unsung heroes, the eyes on the ground, spending the last 4 months of every year living out of a suitcase in cheap motels in places like Lawrence, Kansas. Any team that didn't have the right set of scouts on board in September has already missed the boat for the 2010 draft.
