Frustrated freshman staying with Vols

Nu'Keese Richardson might be frustrated. But apparently not enough to leave Tennessee. Warning flags went up immediately after the highly touted freshman receiver missed practice on Sunday afternoon amid rumors he wasn't pleased with his role with the Vols, but coach Lane Kiffin took them down on Tuesday. Richardson might still be sorting through some personal issues, but there are no plans for him to deal with them anywhere other than UT.

He's gonna stay with Tenn

Here come the you should have gone to Fl. posts.

Isn't this the same Nu'Keese who committed to Florida then surprised everyone by switching to Tennessee during one of those BS signing ceremonies?

November 4, 2009  07:44 AM ET

No use going elsewhere if your having personal issues. Get them worked out. Seems Tennesee is a good setup with a bright future.

Homesick maybe. TN and Fl. Not the same place.

Yup. He did get a lot of publicity with that. I think a couple things have come up.

a) Florida could use another WR this year. Nu'keese would have gotten some playing time at Florida this year. I think one of the big draws to Tennessee was the opportunity to compete for a starting position at UT.

b) He realized that Tenn is a long drive for his friends/family to come to a game. If he played for one of the major Florida schools, it would be easier for his hometown friends to come to home games.

You mean an 18 year old kid made a decision he is second guessing.... in other news, water is wet, fire is hot, and bacon is delicious

November 4, 2009  09:07 AM ET

I actually feel a little bad for the kid. Sure, Vol fans acted like they had just stolen Jerry Rice away from FLorida, but at the end of the day he's a young kid, who was convinced to change his decision. You can't blame anyone really, it's all part of recruiting, but for this kid to change his commitment and now not even see the time he thought he would kind of sucks...That being said, the Gator WR corp is pretty shallow, and I'm sure an extra pair of speedy hands would at least see a few snaps...

Let him go, he made a bad decision based on his ego

I would tend to agree with this

Lets see Sunday morning after Halloween...maybe he was bobbing for apples?

true...on second thought florida would love to have a player on the practice squad for a year.

I'm with Seth (and his really nice pick, uh I mean pic).

You made your bed Nu, go sleep in it.

November 4, 2009  09:58 AM ET

He was flying high while being recruited. Now, he has to earn his spot on the team of a major program. Adjusting to campus life and the environmental and cultural differences of a place far from home are a challenge to every college frosh. If he missed practice because he can't get his mind around reality vs expectations coming in, then give him the paternal talk, make him run some stadium steps, and get him back into practice. He'll either put up or fall out. If it's the later, there's always FCS or DII. Both of those levels have developed players who went on to fine pro careers.

Yes. If and when we begin to take ourselves too seriously, I always recommend more focus on Seth's avatars.

He should be good with staying at TN. I would like to see the Vols get a power QB to solidify the offense. The Vols should be setup to recruit well this year.

This can never be overstated.

Where's VR and/or VFH when we need 'em? Does anyone present know a thing or two about the Vols QBs in the wings?
