Match Fit USA has learned that Mexican legend Jorge Campos may be under consideration for FC Dallas' newly created Technical Director position. Campos has had contact with the club in regards to the position after general manager Michael Hitchcock was let go this week. Campos retired in 2004 after a distinguished playing career, including stints with the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire, and was on Ricardo Lavolpe's staff during Mexico's 2006 World Cup effort. He currently does periodic television work for TV Azteca. He was spotted at the Cotton Bowl for Mexico's match with Columbia, a game that was the second half of a doubleheader; FC Dallas took on New England in the first game.

Will design Dallas' new jersey and scout for short players dissatisfied with playing just one position.

Just think of all the shirts they'd sell during National Gay Pride Day! Not a bad marketing ploy, I swear you're an accidental genius, D-Wreck!

Not only scouting options but this a guy with more of an attacking mentality, something we desperetaly need here in MLS...

He looks like he's performing at a childrens birthday party in that outfit.

...and luring the mexican american fan base

Off topic: Tough loss for the U-17 against Italy, the U.S dominated Italy, we missed a penalty in the first half, we hit the crossbar, etc. Point is, we're not there yet, we need to overcome that mental barrier that is caused when we see the other team wearing the a historic shirt such as the Azzurri. We played like never, we lost like always....

So who was I collecting from on that bet?

It's all about mentality, nothing more. US athletes are right there with anyone, and in most cases, surpass them in terms of fitness and dedication. They just don't get the mental conditioning it takes to get to the next level.

Shades of Pennywise, if you ask me. Not cool.

I think they would be happy with luring any fan base to FC Dallas matches.

as with spain, it was painfully obvious the difference between playing for a residency and playing day in day out with professional squads....

US's first touch were poor, their finishing was abysmal and their decision making was slow... it is obvious to be taken seriously as a senior side we must do drastic changes at the youth side....

Gil has apparently picked up interest at Pachuca... his mexican roots will obviously be is route in, but he's pointed out that despite his dad's advice he'd rather represent the US.... Also the long list of euro suitors looking to pick up this promising talent... Gil was one of (if not the) only players on the field that looked like he belong along side the boys from Italy (who play for pro team youth squads)... same thing happened against spain... kid has a bright future

with him being hired (assuming) as a TD, i wonder how many mexican fans would truly show up?? i could see him putting forth some good options at players to sign, but his presence on the field will be left to a minimal

Well done, Bayern. I was thinking a guest appearance by Erik Estrada on "The Simpsons" as the latino version of Krusty the Clown.

Ironic that they'd name a guy that during his playing days was anything but technical.

Not really--at least not if you consider the history of the club doing the hiring.

Good point. I thought about throwing FCD under the bus but I really don't need to do that - they are doing a great job on their own.
