Rogers responds to White

Brett Rogers is getting ready for the biggest fight of his life, as he faces Russian heavyweight phenom Fedor Emeliankeno in Strikeforce's CBS debut this Saturday. While not many people are giving Brett Rogers much of a chance in the bout, UFC President Dana White isn't one of them. "He's [Fedor] fighting a dangerous guy," White recently noted. "I don't think he's [Fedor] that good, I think he's overrated and I think he might get knocked out." Rogers admitted to being surprised by White's statement, but claims to not care about what the brash President thinks. Wow, I'm shocked to hear that," Rogers told FightLine.com regarding White's quote. "I really don't care what he thinks, but I guess I'll take it as a compliment because, I mean, you know I'm always in it to win it. I'm definitely not one of those guys who just gets in the cage just to get a check. I'm always in it to win it. And let everybody know that I'm going to be the best of the best heavyweights."

Once again Dana doesn't think Fedor is that good yet he gave Fedor a so called offer for $5mil a fight. Or offered him to be paid more money than anyone else makes in the UFC. You my friend (Dan White) are a bald face liar.

November 4, 2009  10:38 AM ET

it is called promotion! this guy is great at it! he wants you to watch and he isnt going to say fedor will knock him out in 50 seconds! that doesnt bring in viewers. oh and its not his face thats bald!

dana said he wanted him in the UFC so he can prove hes the best in the world...he wanted him to fight brock lesnar really bad....

Buck Rodgers isn't a chump and has a punchers chance of winning against Fedor. Rodgers hits with authority and hits hard. Good luck to him over the Commie.

November 4, 2009  01:48 PM ET

LOL at Dana White saying the most dominating fighter in MMA history is not that good.
He knows nothing about his own sport.

November 4, 2009  01:50 PM ET

Dana is such a politician. Softening up Rodgers so that if he does KO Fedor, he can sign Rodgers to the UFC and have the super fight b/t Rodgers and Lesner...nice move Dana, let's see if he can keep from getting tapped by the Emperor.

November 4, 2009  02:02 PM ET

Butt hurt Dana opens his mouth yet again. Anything to get his name and the UFC out there in a Strikeforce news dominated week. Every fighter has a puncher's chance in beating an opponent. Rogers has a chance. A small chance. But still a chance.

November 4, 2009  02:43 PM ET

Don't think so Dana, overrated !??? Brock is so much more overrated, Dana you should be jealous of the great card Strikeforce is putting on this Saturday. All Rodgers has is a punchers chance and may be more hungry than Fedor. But this is Fedor's chance to become known, more so, in the U.S.
I sincerely hope he wins or I am going to lose a lot of money.

I would guess $10 bucks is a lot to you.

You guys are all tools. You look for every opportunity to bash Dana White and proclaim <insert lesser promotion here> as the new best thing in MMA. What a bunch of morons. Fedor hasnt "saved" or "elevated" any promotion he has ever been a part of. Strikeforce loads up all of their "talent" for one big card and now the UFC should be jealous? If the UFC did the same thing (i.e. put out one worthwhile card per year) then their potential card would destroy anything Strikeforce could dream of putting out. And on a seperate note, you can be a great fighter and still be overrated. Fedor may be the best MMA fighter in history and he would still be overrated becasue most of you pro-Fedor/anti-Dana White fanboys are convinced that Fedor walks on water, brings the dead back to life, heals the terminally sick, has X-ray vision...you cant see what's actually in front of you - that Fedor has fought many tough guys, but not in the last 5 years or so (give or take). He has fought a mix of bums, freaks, and middleweights. He still may be the best MMA fighter in the world, but we'll never know if he doesnt start fighting top competition again.

At least someone gets it. You cannot believe the idiots on the MMA site. Knuckledragging redneck drones without a clue. Good post.

Look, Dana has the best damn MMA organization the **** just runs his mouth too damn much and gets butt hurt when they don't sign with him. I know its all promotion and he is complementing Rodgers for a possible later contract. UFC doesn't load up all its UFC fights, I know, I just think they putting on a show monthly is too much. Honestly, who is more overrated Fedor or Brock? I agree, I want Fedor to come to the UFC, but damn I think Dana did all he can to get him except giving a ****.
Is any MMA fan not going to watch the fight this Saturday??

Just because Dana has gotten some posters pissed with him doesnt automatically make them UFC haters. I for one cannot stand his over the top character but appreciate his contributions to the sport.

For what its worth, it is Dana who made this "youre either with me or against me" mantle existing in the MMA world today.

Anything that isnt UFC, he bashes. Fighters that arent under his contract, he labels as either not good enough or over rated. Competing organizations, he dismisses as wannabe companies.

I understand he is just being himself and that he got this far being himself. I truly get that. But dont generalize people by declaring them as UFC haters because they have a pointed opinion of Dana White.

Different folks just have different ways to express how they feel about this guy. Some voice out their rants on message boards. Ive seen some flip him off in Vegas. Me, since Im a UFC fan who just cant stand him, I just hit mute on my remote when he has the mic.

Excellent points. Dana has effectively created a "UFC or none at all" divide in the MMA scene. Whether that was his intention or not, that has become the norm with him. And it isnt more evident on how fans take his word as gospel truth. A good sample is how Dana was all praises for Scott Coker/Strikeforce when they acquired the remaining EliteXC contracts. Even saying Coker knew how to run a viable business. Fans also chimed in saying it was a great complimentary company to the UFC. His tune suddenly turned sour when he couldnt sign Fedor and Strikeforce did. Immediately calling them Strikefarce. Almost immediately as well, fans on message boards start calling Strikeforce as Strikefarce. Im not bashing Dana here. Just calling it how I see it. Im a big MMA fan (followed UFC, Pride FC, Strikeforce, Cage Rage, Dream etc) and I acknowledg White and the Fertitas contributions but I dont have to hug their nut just to say Im a fan of the sport.

Dana "Vince" White

November 4, 2009  08:54 PM ET

Lol.....this makes him look stupid. Every fighter is overrated when they have such a distinguished record because everybody start to believe they are unbeatable. All Fedor fans know that Fedor can lose, we just don't think it will be to Brett Rogers. But Brett does have a punchers chance just like any other fighter. But for Dana to say he doesn't think Fedor is that good.....well that just makes him look like an idiot.

Its called mind conditioning. Like subtle hints by cigarette companies at 7 Eleven Stores aimed at young kids.

Wait, I'm confused. Here it sounds like Dana is saying Fedor is easily going to win against Rogers which is kind of the opposite of trashing Fedor.
