10:14 AM ET 11.04 | The decision last night in Detroit to sit Tayshaun Prince who by all accounts could have played according to sources, was labeled a precautionary move related to a lower back strain according to the team. That did not stop the arena from buzzing about the possibility of a trade involving Prince and forward Jason Maxiell. Pistons' president Joe Dumars has made no secret of the fact he'd be open to moving off one of his larger contracts if it could get him in the 2010 free agent class in a big enough way, and there is a belief that of the two monster contracts Detroit has in Richard Hamilton ($11.6 million) and Tayshaun Prince ($10.3 million) that Prince is the easiest of the two to move. Dumars quickly shut down the notion of a trade saying the decision was about injuries, and that he had enough new faces.

monster contractss ??
those are 2 AS caliber players -both make an appropriate
amount of money....
Maybe if Joe D didn't sign 2 players who play the SAME position
he wouldn't be in this mess

I mean- who DOESN'T need a guy that can defend, run
hit an open j, drive........

Cleveland jump on this if you want to contend this year and make Lebron happy.

November 4, 2009  11:06 AM ET

Prince can be easily traded, plenty of teams would want him. Rip, not so much and his extension was just confusing.

November 4, 2009  11:22 AM ET

Still rebuilding Bro?

Oh man oh man I'd love to see what he could do on a contender - he is a winner through and through.

for what purpose ?
if they jettison one- they still are going to have like 40 mil in
contracts.....so the STILL couldn't get a primo FA
and their team will be WORSE

What 2 players are you saying play the same position? Prince is a 3... Rip is a 2. Now if you meant Rip, Stuckey and A.I., that's true!

CV is a forward and though taller is a SF (like Prince)
and Godon is a SG...same as Rip

A real topic THANK YOU! There goona move rip and itz funny cuz last year AI was saying he was 10 times better then RIP and deserved to start and the team turned they back on him!! Yeah giving RIP that extension was a 'gift' from Dumars but now nobody is gonna want to take on dat contract! Michael Redd(Bucks) and Rip Hamilton(Pistions) are 2 shooters that cant be moved cuz of their contracts!
