Cowboys' Williams blaming Romo?

Last year, Cowboys No. 1 receiver Terrell Owens reportedly believed that quarterback Tony Romo was throwing too many passes to other players, and not enough to T.O. This year, Terrell Owens is gone, and the team's new No. 1 receiver is expressing a similar sentiment, but with a decent amount of tact. "It's just not even close," Williams said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. "It's not even funny. Not even close. . . . I'm the No. 1 receiver. But things are just going No. 2's way." The No. 2 is Miles Austin, who has broken out dramatically in the past few weeks. "He gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs [from Romo to Williams] are everywhere right now."

Cowboys? Who cares about the Cowboys?

November 5, 2009  06:58 AM ET

Shouldn't the "Number 1" receiver be the guy that the QB throws to most often, feels most comfortable throwing to, and/or has the best numbers? Obviously Roy Williams is none of the above, so why exactly is he still referred to as a "number 1" receiver?

Is this guy for real... What in the world has this overrated clown in his career to think or prove that he's a No.1 receiver??? Miles Austin is getting the job done and then some. If I'm Romo I keep throwing him the ball...screw Williams.

Is that your one and only comment on every thread?

November 5, 2009  07:08 AM ET

I would imagine he's stretching, climbing and reaching for balls...

... he'd be crazy to make that statement if it weren't true.

In that way he can relate to Lynn Swann and John Jefferson who were constantly diving for footballs thrown by Bradshaw and Fouts

November 5, 2009  07:09 AM ET

No Roy, it is funny. Miles Austin is better than you.

November 5, 2009  07:10 AM ET

I don't think Romo plans to throw his balls any different than the other receivers.......

maybe Williams is just out of position and needs to get to his spot a little quicker!!

Stop talking and start catching the ball

November 5, 2009  07:11 AM ET

Just when you thought the curse of TO was lifted ...

November 5, 2009  07:12 AM ET

If it weren't for the big bucks and draft picks Dallas has invested in this clown he would've been cut by now. Austin gets open, catches the ball and then does something with it. Williams can't string those three things together on the same play consistently.

November 5, 2009  07:16 AM ET

Maybe bc you cant run a PRECISE route dope!!!

November 5, 2009  07:22 AM ET

There's no concept of TEAM in that statement...

Austin is a better receiver...

It seems like whoever's in the #1 Receiver spot in Dallas, blames Tony Romo for them not catching the ball...

November 5, 2009  07:23 AM ET

He's filling T.O.'s shoes pretty well at this present time....

November 5, 2009  07:26 AM ET

I thought that's why he plays defense? Oh yeah, they got got the bizarro Roy, nevermind.

The may have gotten rid of the wrong roy.

I knew this was going to happen...

Roy actually went out of his way to not place blame on Romo or Garrett or anyone yesterday. He spent a good 20 minutes talking with reporters about his struggles & the team's success. Then all the sudden, this crap hits the air.

This is a non-story!!!

Morning Chico - yes it is (hype balloon) ...

You will also note that the genesis of the report would be the local chapter of the World-Wide Leader.
