According to the Maple Leafs and Raptors, some players and staff have received the H1N1 vaccine, but both teams deny jumping the line for shots. Under considerable pressure to say whether their players have been vaccinated against the virus, the Leafs issued a statement saying they were only following medical protocol by having their players injected.

It shows! Now, if they could just move up to place.

Could be worse...it just came out that Goldman-Sachs, the Wall Street a**holes largely responsible for the near collapse of the US economy, got more vaccine than Lenox Hills Hospital, which covers the East Side of Manhattan. THAT is obscene.

I think the Leafs were vaccinated against winning.

November 5, 2009  10:30 AM ET

Well. It makes sense. After all they live in Hogtown! ;)

It sounds like you'd like to inoculate them with the Aids virus!

Hahhahha. Good 1.

Ontario doesn't have as large as a shortage as Alberta, so this isn't as big of a deal.

Very witty DC...FYI The Manager at Alberta Health who approved the Flames vaccinations was fired today. The Flames announced they are trying to find a job for the guy.

Not sure I'd go that far...but now that you mention it.

BTW...the Bruins have announced that David Krejci has been confirmed as infected with H1N1 and has been isolated from the team until he's fever free for 24 hours.

As I stated before, while spoiled, pampered millionaires get ahead of everybody else and go on their marry way, some poor sap gets canned! The least the Flames can do is to find him/her a job.

Here's an idea: The Flames should hire him/her to do free prostate exams and colonoscopies for all Flames personel, starting with the Sutters!

November 5, 2009  05:06 PM ET

I feel left out. I'm going to get some sicko to cough on me so I can quickly recover.

Check out this virus and see if the stories about the ancient having immunity already are true.

I resemble that remark!

At least they don't use the Louisville Slugger for the "procedure" anymore like they used to in the old days. You're right about the prep, though.

I propose they make it a mandatory, twice a month procedure for all Flames personnel then!

It is true, Hank. If you were born before 1948 (gosh that sounds like so long ago) you don't need to worry about it. You have diplomatic immunity. Besides, if you do get sick, you're too old to spend money on trying to save you according to current wisdom.

I thought it was 1958. If it's 1948 I'll avoid those coughers...

Yup, that old Sigmoidoscope was not a lot of fun.

Swine flu has been around forever. There are many variants and strains. Just because someone tests positive doesn't necessarily mean they have the deadly strain.

I echo the sentiments of others that the "pandemic" thing is greatly overblown, probably by the pharmaceuticals.

Do you know how many people die in car accidents every year in the US? Over 40,000! According to Car-Accidents.com, about 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes.

Now, that's a pandemic, my friend! Let's inoculate people against car crashes, shall we?
