Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero is flattered by the interest Chelsea have shown in him but said he is happy to stay in the Spanish capital for the time being.

ouch, sounds like chelsea just got rejected. would have been a good use for 'eyeing'

I like how Eurosport writes this article two days after Aguero gets two goals against Chelsea. That game aside, Aguero and Atletico Madrid haven't performed well. I would think potential buyers would want to see more consistent performances out of Aguero before buying him.

^^I know Aguero has talent, and he did great last year. But can he do the same thing with the spot light shining on him? That's an entirely different proposition, one that's he having trouble coping with this season. This is what I mean by consistent performances, remember he's only 21.

And he has Maradona whispering in his ear.

Sergio...have fun...looks like a long road this season for Atletico.

This one is real, I'm almost positive of it. Chelsea is looking at one delay in the appeal process over the transfer ban, which means they've got January to book a couple of signings to give them depth during the Africa Cup of Nations. They need to make a splash and Roman has the cash to make it work (like we didn't know that). Aguero is only 21, so he has a massive resale value which seems to be the new paradigm with impact transfers right now.

Slot him into the hole behind Drogba and Anelka, push Joey Cole out wide right and keep Lampard on the left and the EPL is done. Chelsea by seven points in the end.

C'mon now, every time Manchester United plays somebody we have to endure endless speculation pieces on SAF tapping up players to get inside their heads. It's almost comical. Day after Juventus essentially locks itself into the second slot in their group, it's Buffon. Then it's Akinfeev the day before United plays CSKA. Like I said - it's comical and part of the game these managers play.

PS: I've been talking up this one for a while too whenever Silva and Villa get mentioned. This is the one that I believe will happen.

All true. But Chelsea reportedly made a pretty big offer for him last summer as well, only to be turned down. So the interest is not totally new.

I think he goes this time because ATM will have trouble meeting his contract given that they will be out of Champions League money next year. The same thing is about to happen with Fernando Torres too. Especially if he's injured and the surgery they've prescribed affects his possibility of playing in the World Cup.

I agree that he will eventually have to leave, but it will not be to Chelsea. I (sadly, as I am a fan of the Blues) just don't think that FIFA will not let the ban be overturned. But then again, who knows what could happen since Abramovich has a lot of money.

Abramovich reacts to Chelsea's transfer ban:

and aguero ain't going anywhere. he's had two huge games in a row (and wunder-gols to boot) and atletico are starting t play like they should. if they get similar results in their next game or two they will at least finish in the top half and should be a relevant player next season. i could say a similar thing for lpool, but no, they have no balls, other than EL NINO!! (~crowds cheering in the background~)

Exactly what I was thinking, but add in the fact that they won't even be playing in Europa, so finances are going to be REALLY tight at the Vicente Calderon. There's way too much talent to not be playing in any European competition.

Hell Forlan might be packing his bags as we speak as well. How long are guys like El Kun and Forlan going to be happy limited to playing in league and Copa del Rey?

Totally agree, it's been awhile since el Kun has lived up to his potential. He's not only been inconsistent with Atletico but he's been terrible when playing for Argentina as well...

"Why couldn't we have tapped up Alexander Pato..." LOL...nice.

I love these clips...hilarious.

speaking of david villa's team slavia just came from two goals down in the second half with ten men to draw with valencia. great effort. sadly david villa didn't feature since he got red carded in the leg in spain two weeks ago.

i had written my club off after their abyssmal form in the league, but there might be something to them. HAHA
