White Sox looking to deal Konerko?

07:41 AM ET 11.06 | Like the signing of first baseman-outfielder Mark Kotsay, Mark Teahen's arrival -- not yet official, although widely reported -- would position the White Sox to deal Paul Konerko this winter, assuming Konerko is willing to waive his no-trade rights. Konerko has one year left on his contract and isn't believed to have received overtures about staying past 2010. He could be attractive to teams looking for leadership and run-production, with San Francisco, Arizona, Boston and the Angels among the possibilities. Shedding his $12-million salary would make it easier to pursue a top free agent, such as the long rumored Chone Figgins.

Tough to envision a market for him, at 12M.

Hope the Sox pull the trigger and trade Konerko. He's definitely on the decline and Sox would be wise to get what they can for him.

As much as i would hate to see Konerko leave the White Sox, i have to agree with ChiSoxmark that we need to get value out of him while we can.

If they deal Konerko it better be for a reason other than making room to sign Chone Figgins. I really don't see why they want that guy. His stats aren't much better than Podsednik's, and he's a career playoff choker. I'd like to see the Sox get back to the postseason, but if Figgins is on the team it won't be any more than a one and done for them. At least Pods and Konerko showed they'll step up on the big stage.

I would hate tp see Konerko go. However, if we acquired Figgins or some other player of similar caliber. it would be a nice trade off.

We are losing all our power, no Dye, no Thome, and if we lose Paulie wow,

I dont want to see konerko go. At least he still hits for a decent average. Dye i am not sad to see go, i appreciate the memories, but i believe he is the most responsible for the Sox not making the playoffs last year. Chone Figgins does not play well in the playoffs and his speed is not that big of a deal.
