Porter: Patriots get special treatment

08:09 AM ET 11.06 | Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Joey Porter has never been one to mince words. And he didn't hold back when asked about the New England Patriots and whether quarterback Tom Brady receives special treatment by officials. "No question," Porter said today during an NFL Network interview. "When a guy can tell a ref when to throw a flag, and he gets it, he's got his own rules. They made the rule that you don't go at the legs for Tom, so when he feels that someone is going at his legs, he just points to the ref and he gets a flag. So I can honestly say that he gets his own rules."

Here we go again....

Another player who's mouth by far, exceeds his production on the field.

Joey "look at me look at me" porter.

November 6, 2009  08:14 AM ET

Joey.... SHUT UP!!!

November 6, 2009  08:18 AM ET

Asking a mouth-off artist like Porter a leading question like that is some fine journalism. Stay classy, NFL Network.

That said, of course Brady gets calls; all QBs do, and this particular QB happens to be the Super Bowl-winning, Super Model-banging face of the NFL. Franchise QBs are where the money is and the NFL is going to protect the money. When Brady went down for the season last year, a nuclear loss-of-revenue bomb went off at NFL HQ.

Agreed....well said.

I'm sure he'll have even more to say after Sunday's game.

November 6, 2009  08:32 AM ET

Joey is definitely one of the dumbest sumbiiitches in the NFL. He personifies "low class". He will typically be the most brash of celebrators when his team wins and he will be no where to be found when confronted with loss (last year in Miami).

He and his Steeler teammates were pretty pathetic sounding after losing to New England in the playoffs. Most of them have grown up and let it go, Joey has not.

Only if the Dolphins win.

While I do agree I think the elite QBs are getting far better treatment (Brady, P. Manning). Its to the point you can't touch Brady without getting a flag. I have to say if I was a defensive player and I was about to hit Brady and I knew I would get a flag I would think I might as well really give him a good shot.

Joey, Double-O-Seven has a license to kill. You don't.

Man, you Dolphins are seeing what happens first hand when your starting quarterback goes down for the season. Wouldn't you rather have Chad Pennington back? The guy took you to the playoffs last year.

Face it, the game isn't half as much fun when the backups are in. Do you want to see Sorgi against Tarvaris Jackson in the Superbowl? I sure don't.

If I worked media in Miami, I wouldn't even put a mic or camera in this fool's face.

What a Whinny Cry Baby move this is.

I couldn't agree more.

I think players say things like this BEFORE the game in hopes that somehow the refs will hear it and it will make them think a little longer before they give that person the easy call. In reality though, the refs are going to give Brady and others special treatment regardless of what anyone says. The QBs need protection but things are out of hand. Pretty soon we will put bubblewrap on them and let them play "red light, green light" as the defense rushes towards them.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHH!!!

Just 'cause an idiot said it, doesn't mean it ain't true

November 6, 2009  09:10 AM ET

Anyone ever notice how the talanted players like Brees and Steven Jackson just show up to play ball, regardless of how their team is doing? It seems the loudmouths show up to hide a solid 3-4 record.

November 6, 2009  09:24 AM ET

Of course they do Bro, the best teams usually do.
