Whether Dan Henderson will have a signed Strikeforce contract when he appears to work the corner of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou is another matter entirely. A source close to the situation told Yahoo! Sports on Monday that Henderson had signed with Strikeforce, spurning the Ultimate Fighting Championship, for whom he has fought since 2007. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker on Tuesday admitted to having talks with Henderson, but denied he has been signed. Enter into the fray UFC president Dana White, who had been personally involved in the negotiations with Henderson. White said Wednesday, "I guarantee you 1,000 percent that Dan Henderson is signed by Strikeforce."

Hendo sees his career winding down and wants to make the money while he can. If this is true, watch Strikeforce sign him to fight Fedor in a catch-weight fight. Those two would be the only big draw fighters in the Strikeforce stable.

All right the 40 YEAR OLD neanderthal knuckle dragger has scratched his X ON A STRIKEFORCE DEAL. He takes his one punch right hand low fan base and attempts to eke out the remaining days of his lackluster career with an organization one hopes is around another year. Don't consider Henderson news anymore.

Tell Mike Bisbing that. Has he woken up yet?

Hendo earned a rematch with Silva, but that wasn't a big draw in the UFC's opinion. I think he feld dissed and decided to leave if he didn't get the money and/or match he wanted. I do think he would have stayed if guaranteed a shot with another victory.

Good business decision on his Hendo's part - plus there was a TON of risk in the Marquadt bout because if he lost, he would end up being called the middle-weight divisions "Elite" gatekeeper (unless Silva got beat and someone other than Marquadt did it). Strikeforce lets him start "new" and becuase hes a big name, he will probably be in the championship mix very very soon.

Isn't every UFC figher that comes over in the title mix because the pickings are thin?

You guys ever thought how much Dana White has been yapping about this (failed) contract negotiation while Dan Henderson on the other hand has been mostly quiet. Yet posters on here and most MMA sites actually are quick to villify Hendo as a money grabbing, aging fighter.

Henderson as a fighter looking for a contract/raise cannot afford to run his mouth or open it. Dana holds all 52 cards in his UFC hands. Henderson is an aging fighter and is looking for a big money deal for more than what he is worth in return. It's like trading in your used car for a new one and expecting double full retail price over book value for your old heap. Doesn't happen. Fans look at Henderson completley differently than managemnt does from their botton line. That's why one guy is a billionaire UFC owner and millions others(fans) have the opinions what that owner should do. funny.

Because a significant portion of MMA fans eat up whatever Dana says. And run with it.

Whats funny is how people assume the word of one party is the truth without even hearing from the other party at all. Like they have the inside stuff on what really went down. Thats whats funny.

Henderson has been told plain and simple in english he is not needed anymore. Do you understand what a lobbyist is? I don't think you but major companies, politicians of the like have paid people go around and support their causes and drive momentum and positive thinking in their direction. Wouldn't it be smart for a Billionaire UFC entity to have paid shills go around and drum up support in the press, in public and Cable TV and in forums for their side of issues, fights and negotiations. I don't expect you to fully grasp this but think about it even on this little read meaningless forum both sides need to be explained.

November 6, 2009  02:05 PM ET

Good for Hendo, shutting up White and showing he was going to walk if Dana didnt give him a legit contract. White will the downfall for the UFC.

You just unwittingly echoed my concern that BOTH sides need to be heard. Not just Dana's side but Hendo's as well. Goodluck with that debating thing by the way.

Why would Dana White lobby to "drum up support in the press, in public and Cable TV and in forums" for a contract negotiation? Isnt he decision maker in all of this? Like you said he holds all 52 cards in this contract dispute. Its a simple issue of numbers they have yet to agree on.

If Hendo's been told he's not needed anymore why then would you even bring up lobbying? Since when did Dana ever consult the the press and the public for any of his contract work? This is Dana being Dana. He feels obligated to speak on anything and everything MMA. Even if it doesnt concern his company.

Last time I checked, Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta owned the UFC... Dana White is the President of the UFC & while I do not have a copy of his financial records, I'm fairly certain he is not a billionaire! Dana White is the face of UFC but that doesn't make him right all the time. For the record, I would not pay Henderson the reported $5 million dollars he is looking either!

*sigh*

Perhaps you should learn a little about MMA. Strikeforce doesn't have the depth of the UFC, but Hendo and Fedor wouldn't be the only quality fighters on their roster....

Alistair Overeem, Mousasi, Rogers, Werdum et all provide some very good fighters. Stop drinking the UFC kool aid Dana is serving. There IS more to life than the UFC, and it appears Strikeforce actually takes care of their fighters (unlike the UFC, who keep over 90% of the revenue, and other than a handful of top fighters, most guys in the UFC don't make much more than expense money...).

And for the record, if Carano is still fighting, she's a HUGE draw.

Dana also said Couture and Tito (and Rampage) were not needed either. And two have already come back, and Rampage will be back after the A Team movie bombs.

As for Dana, if you believe even five percent of what he says, you're a fool. The man is a provne liar. He'll say whatever he wants in order to make someone else look bad.

And FYI, Dana owns 10% of the UFC and is FAR from a billionaire. But thanks for playing. The UFC isn't worth a billion either - it's privately held and therefore there have been estimates that the $2,000,000 the Fertitta's invested is now worth perhaps $200,000,000. Which is great, but far from a billion. Perhaps you should go back to school. Your math skills.

Did some **** say Dan Henderson has had a lackluster career? Seriously, you should have to have a minimum IQ to post on these sites. Dan Henderson is an icon in the sport of MMA regardless of his age or where he fights. Saying Dan Henderson has had a lackluster career is like saying Chuck Lidell, Matt Hughes, Anderson Silva, George St. Pierre, and Royce Gracie are ****. Utter stupidity.
