Meeting with fans backfires on Browns owner

So Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner met this week with "Dawg Pound Mike" and his buddy, no doubt hoping to get the two fans to call off the kickoff protest planned for Monday night, Nov. 16, when the Baltimore Ravens visit Cleveland Browns Stadium. And here's the Browns' luck: Lerner chats with these guys for about two hours and, after all that blabbing, "Dawg Pound Mike" announces he's still going through with this demonstration that figures to embarrass the organization even more than some of its draft picks. The big scoop "Dawg Pound Mike" came away with is that Lerner seemed sincere in saying he actually wants to win (he saw it in his eyes) and that the Browns do not take a back seat to the billionaire's Premier League soccer team, as some have surmised.

While the fans do have an obvious gripe, after meeting with the owner and going through with the protest I can only say that it's JUST FOR THE PUBLICITY....

There are many things that have backfired on Randy Lerner over the past few years.

You may. The weekend interns never seem in a hurry to post stories and often don't find good ones. This one doesn't really surprise me. I agree with Darth Maim too, this looks more like a publicity stunt than a news story.

The big dummy chased them off, time to refill the feeders anyhow, brb

This article is written exclusively to creat controversy.....there is no obvious way forward from the meeting--nothing said there will have a revolutionary effect on the team's play. I heard this Mike guy say that he told Lerner he was going through the "late show" at their get together, there is no story here. HACKS!!

embarrass the Browns more than some of their draft picks????

Geez, talk about setting the bar high. Not sure if its humanly possible to pull that off in a single afternoon.

I'm not real sure Cleavland can set a bar to begin with unless it's with the team, and shootings are involved.

Fire that Idiot Mangini!!! Pay a Shanahan not as coach but as a GM. Hire Dungy.

Hire Dungy to do what? Be mediocre just like he was in Tampa without a great GM (like Polian) and one of the best QBs ever? Dungy has to be one of the most overrated coaches of all time.

I read your post earlier and agreed with you at first and still do. But I think it is a good idea to keep the heat on the owner. Why let the guy off easy for doing what he has done to the team and the city. Just because he doesn't know football doesn't excuse him from not hiring a good football mind to run the team.
Lerner hired a coach before he hired a GM and then past on Acorsi because Mangini thought he was a better fit. Anyone in their right mind can now clearly see the reason Mangini wanted to hire Kokonis was so that he could control the team. Shame on Lerner for firing Kokonis when the true villian and cause of the Browns problems lay in he and Mangini's hands. It wasn't Kokonis who wanted to bring on all of the ex Jets players while trading away Edwards and others. Kokonis was given final say of team operations in his contact but it was Mangini who made the decisions.
Good for the fans for sticking up for all of us!
