Ron Artest fired back at Charles Barkley on Friday after the TNT analyst criticized the Lakers forward by saying he could become a distraction to the team. Barkley made his comments after TNT did a prerecorded segment on Artest's off-court activities that aired Thursday night during the telecast of an NBA doubleheader. Artest said Barkley took his "shine," meaning his publicity. Artest has spent time rapping, working on his Twitter account, interacting with fans and attending charity events and other entertainment ventures. He took exception to what Barkley said, pointing out that some of his rapping was about abuse of women in Afghanistan.

Just let the W's speak for themselves.

The only distraction is Barkley,..
It's his whole goal in life, to distract us by his silly statements,.. but also the reason he gets paid.

Is he injured again?! This is like a bad re-run!!

And just when he is playing great...again (almost 20-10).

At least the TNT crew keeps things in perspective and doesn't take themselves too seriously. Barkley is doing his job and doing it well.

It's refreshing considering NFL Sunday mornings can almost come off like a government exercise. It's still a game.

Think he's worse than Odom?... It's curious how all the big men are so fragile now.
I guess it's the position... Were guys like Duncan this fragile?

A lot of people on T&R want to talk about Bynum's injuries as "freak" accidents, but the point is: he's still injured A LOT. Regardless of when or how it happens. Until he can put together a complete season and remain somewhat healthy I will consider him a china doll.

Good for Artest,
Besides the fact I enjoy Barkley and the folks at TNT, he is a drunk and gambler loser who hate winners.
Artest is very focused to be a winner and he is showing that. I really hope he will silence all the doubters out there.

"Charles Barkley on Friday after the TNT analyst criticized the Lakers forward by saying he could become a distraction to the team."
Did he ever think that Artest's "distractions" would be outweighed by what he brings to the Lakers?... like another skilled defender, more depth, and toughness.
Phil Jackson has successfully dealt with similar players in the past. Rodman comes to mind.

As for Bynum you guys are brutal, yeah he missed one game but can't knock the guy's #s so far this year, what more could he do this season besides "miss" one game with a minor elbow injury (it was against Memphis remember, can't blame him for coming up lame so conveniently, joking joking)?
