Lakers, Kobe talking extension

It's been more than four months since Kobe Bryant announced his intentions to sign a contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers and pass up a chance to join the 2010 free-agent market. So why hasn't he signed anything? Sources with knowledge of the talks say the Lakers continue to meet with Bryant's camp and that both sides fully expect the deal to get done, though neither wants to commit to a firm timetable. The initial hope was that the extension would be completed by the start of the season.

Put this with the Lebron going to the lakers story and T&R can run it for months.

November 7, 2009  10:24 AM ET

Kobe and Lebron are talking with Dr. Buss right now.

This is simply FanNation and SI trying to get a reaction from us. Kobe isn't going anywhere. He and the Lakers both know it. A deal will get done whenever they get around to it.

November 7, 2009  10:41 AM ET

It's not if he's going to resign......
it's simply for how long-
does kobe want 4-5 years or 6-7

November 7, 2009  10:45 AM ET

Wow, Kobe stays a Laker...who knew?

November 7, 2009  11:02 AM ET

Lakers are holding their cards close, while they talk in secret to LeBron,..

November 7, 2009  11:22 AM ET

Yup, KB24 is gonna retire a Laker and have his number retired at Staples.

Only question is which one? Would it be number 8 or 24?

Say you want that to happen but its very unlikely.
Lebron does not want to be under the shadow of Kobe.
Ariza is not even a superstar yet and he didnt want to be third fiddle to kobe.
So do you honestly believe now that Lebron would?
We all know he wants to win a title but he wants the mula too.
And he wants to lead his team like Jordan lead his team, like Wade lead his team and like Kobe lead his team last season.

Lebron refers to himself in the third person. That alone tells you he's not going to stand behind anyone.

24, sans the Shaq Era Bro.

Shocking.

Wishful thinking.
LBJ aint coming to lakerland.
If Ariza who is a role player dont wanna be third fiddle to Kobe you better believe LBJ who is a superstar most definitely dont wanna be in the shadow of Kobe.
Be realistic!

Probably, especially if he was asked to choose between the 2.

I agree with you 100% on this one.

Depends on how many championships he wins. It's eight for each ring, however, since #32 is Magic's retired number, he'll have to wait and win his fifth to use #40, his sixth to use #48, etc.

November 7, 2009  01:31 PM ET

Kobe is going to retire a laker..and have his own statue outside staples..

November 7, 2009  02:11 PM ET

I wonder how long until the NY Post says that Kobe hasn't signed because he is interested in the Knicks??

November 7, 2009  02:30 PM ET

non- story.
Kobe is not going anywhere with a stacked Laker team that can give him rings for years to come.

November 7, 2009  03:42 PM ET

kobe needs to come to the seattle supersonics before they get run out of town
