Gator Bowl eyeing Notre Dame
If there are any loud blazers in the Notre Dame press box Saturday, it apparently will be a product of lost fashion sense rather than requisite attire. According to ND football sports information director Brian Hardin, there will be no bowl scouts in attendance for the college football matchup between 19th-ranked Notre Dame (6-2) and Navy (6-3). But there is already interest from a distance. Big time. "It's very early in the process, but we've already got our eye on Notre Dame," said Rick Catlett, president of the Gator Bowl.

It's all about fans and how many tickets you can sell to the bowl. That's why no one wants Miami in a bowl they don't travel well.

Regardless of the bowl, it's the opponent that will be interesting...
... last time the Irish played an SEC team it was quite ugly for them.
If they had to play Florida, Alabama, or LSU it would probably be a similar result.

This is from ESPN:
Gator Bowl president Rick Catlett does, too. Catlett said the Gator Bowl would love to have a Fighting Irish team that finishes 10-2, but can't imagine it happening.
"I can tell you that four BCS bowl directors are hoping they finish 10-2 and in the top 14 in the BCS poll," Catlett said.
That's because Notre Dame, with its tradition of eight national championships, seven Heisman Trophy winners and a national fan base, brings TV ratings and strong ticket sales.
"Everyone involved in the bowl business is aware of Notre Dame, aware of their fan base, aware of the economic impact it would have on their bowl," Rose Bowl executive director Mitch Dorger said.

What a crock! The good thing is Wiess and his Irish are not good enough to win 10. They will be losing 2 of the last 4. Pitt will beat thier a55 and will lose another to Navy or Conn. Then all of this nonsence will be put to rest! along with Weiss's job :)

We didn't punt the ball once today....Fumble at the one, turnover on downs at the 3, two missed FGs, and an INT that bounced off the number on Michael Floyd's back as he failed to turn around. With a fumble after the catch on the 3rd play of the game, a game that should have been 48-23 ended 23-21. Good bye BCS, hello Gator Bowl and the Miami Hurricanes.
