08:19 AM ET 11.08 | Some of the potential candidates (personnel men working in the NFL now) I chatted with who might be interested in placing their names in the hat for the GM position in Cleveland said they viewed Eric "The Secret" Mangini's proclamation that he'll be involved in the hiring process as a deal breaker. How can anyone work side by side with him when he wants to have all the authority?

How did this guy even get a new coaching gig after the collapse of the Jets last year? Maybe he can be a coordinator somewhere, but he has proven that he lacks the leadership skills to establish a winning tradition anywhere. It really makes me wonder who else was in line/interviewed for the Browns gig.

Given the success of Man-Genius wherever he has gone, I'm not surprised. Oh wait, you mean he didn't have any success? Sorry, my bad.

The quarterback situation is in disarray; Lewis is gone after this year; no one to throw to. What can even be done? Do you blow it up and start over or just blow it up?

Does anyone else know who tried to get the Browns job? Who was Mangini's competition?

Matt Millen and he would make a great team.

I thought that the GM was above the Head Coaching position. I've never heard of a job where you get to interview your future boss.

Put them in Oakland with Al Davis... they'd make the 1976 Buccaneers look good.

Man-Genius reminds me of Rich Kotite for some reason. Maybe it's the ineptitude, or the impending 1-15 season...

That would fall into Shadenfreude's "just blow it up" option.

And now he's an analyst for ESPN. It just doesn't seem right, does it?

As much as I think Mangina is a fat, backstabbing dewshe, I can't lay all the blame for the Jets collapse at his feet. There was this feller named Favre that really stunk up the joint after week 8. The fans in Minnesota will probably get to see this type of meltdown this year. Actually, they already had a preview against Pittsburgh.

Why not? You get to listen to Shannon Sharpe, Dan Marino, Tom Jackson etc. They might have been good players, but they all suck behind a microphone.

Yup, that's good reasoning. He did take the team on his shoulders and carry them into the ground in that last game versus Miami. I hate Favre and can't wait to see the train wreck.

They pale in comparison to he who is the king of suckdom: Keith Olberman on Football Night in America. He is almost as bad as Jim Rome.

Seems to me that it should be the other way around... Mangina should be scared.
Does he have pictures of Lerner with "ladies"?
