Five-star defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat, son of former Arizona State star Jim Jeffcoat, is among the recruits visiting this weekend. The 6-foot-4 Jeffcoat, who also wants to play basketball in college, also is considering Southern California, ASU's opponent tonight, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Houston, where his father is an assistant coach. His twin sister Jacqueline is going to Oklahoma for basketball. Jeffcoat of Plano (Texas) West High School is among the highest rated recruits in the country.

Hello, Houston. Having father on coaching staff sort of seals it, right? Why kid yourself. Would be nice to see him head off to Austin instead of Cougar High, though.

He's visiting Az state cuz dad played there, Houston cuz dad works there, USC cuz Ken Norton (dads former teammate) works there, Okie cuz sis goes there.

Based on statements from Dad the decision is Jackson's to make and his working for UH won't influence the decision anymore than sis playing at Okie.

Family is 100% class act.

Come to Tx son where you can line up next to Okafor and Wilson and play next to Dorsey and Bible while being coached by Muschamp.

Geez ASU has a great defense... adding this kid as well, all they would need is a 65 yard field goal kicker...

I think he kicks too.

Psst... Jackson - Come to the dark side... USC is calling...

He doesn't need the money. Family's pretty well off.

Houston is on the rise with a very good coach that can recruit. This kid could certainly help this program and his dad as well. i personally believe that Reggie Wilson out of Haltom and a Tex commit is a much better player right now.

Wilson will pick up a 5th star before the final list goes out.

Good point. Houston is a good program. At Houston he'll work with his dad. That's gotta be enticing as Jeffcoat Sr. was a very good pro player.

I don't get it, what do you mean (cough)

But Houston having a great year, up and coming; he'd rather have guaranteed playing time with dad as coach (and less competition) than be just another big dude at Texas fighting for starting position.

I take the Sgt. Schultz approach and plead the 5th.

Watched my alma mater yesterday(the "U") and i am cautiously optimistic that we could certainly be in a BCs bowl game next year and then in 2011 be a serious contender for the national title. I just believe we are 2 years away not 1.

If you take him, and his father, at their word (and one should) then he is looking for the place the provides the best fit for him, may allow him to play B-Ball, and will help him move to the next level in football. Thus all of the visits, and taking his time.

For most of the summer he was rumored to be a Tx lean but no one really knows at this point. It went to an OU lean when his sis committed there but he came out and said it had no bearing on his decision. He's supposed to make a decision by year end after the end of the football season.

Seems like the only program that offers a great b-ball situation as well as football is tx and ou, but would he even make the team at either.

Slow start but nice finish.

He's supposed to be a pretty good power forward but breaking into one of those lineups might be tough. Tx and OU will both let him try. Tx already has Goodwin playing receiver on a track scholly.

My take is he knows his futures in football but enjoys b-ball also. After a year or two he would focus on football solely.

If he doesn't mind wandering to the other end of the country, I heard they had pretty good basketball and football programs in Gainesville.

I don't get the impression that being far away from the family is something he is that interested in thus all the stories about OU, Tx, Houston being one of the more likely winners.
