The whispers have started that the Red Wings are looking for a goalie with Chris Osgood and Jimmy Howard both struggling. There aren't many options available.

or two?

First, can you call Howard struggling if they've only let him play like 2 games. Second...I agree, I think they need to bring a goalie in, but with their salary cap, it draws some problems. Last night, while I was watching them get pounded by the Leafs because of soft goals, I went on NHL 10 and traded easily for Cam Ward, and it makes sense, the Hurricanes are slumping, Howard is an unproven, but good goalie in my opinion, and if the Canes get some prospects/draft picks in return, Ward's salary and age work out perfectly in Detroit. THINK ABOUT IT KEN HOLLAND.

Scary moment for Ward with all that blood. Should never got rid of Conklin, though. I don't know why the defence looks so bad sometimes, once when one just fell down and resulted in the first goal, later just getting beat to the puck way too many times in their own zone. The whole team looks slow compared to Pitts. and Phx, and Chi.

Osbad.

Dipietro is returning to the Island, and Biron will get traded to the Wings.

The defense looks bad b/c Brett Lebda SUCKS and Ericsson is still growing as a player.

Cam Ward wouldn't be a bad bet. Too bad they can't toss Howard, keep Ozzie as backup for the playoffs. (Seems that's the only place he shines.) Unfortunately between the two of them Ken's got enough cash to maybe bring Cheli back or maybe encourage Dom out of retirement.

Cam Ward to Detroit? For who? Franzen? Carolina would have to be nuts to trade him. Holland will have to work his genius to fix his goaltending problem. Bertuzzi looks bad in a Wings uniform. He currently has 2 goals in 15 games. Thats a 11 goal pace.

Sorry to burst your bubble, NHL 10 isn't reality lol

Ward just signed an extension so Detroit would have to work wonders to fit it under the cap. Biron would be the best option, short term and relatively cheap (Wings could throw a salary back to balance the books).

I agree... Cam Ward isn't going anywhere. It was only a matter of time that Detroits average goaltending caught up to them.

J.S. Giguere?

Detroit doesnt have the cap space. They'd have to unload 1-2 of their contracts. Or how about Giggy to Detroit for Rafalski? Makes sense.

Cancel that, Lidstrom may retire after this season and they'll need someone to take over the #1 d-man reigns.

How about Toskala?
It is starting to look like Gustavsson is the man here in T.O

Nobody wants Toskala. Not even the AHL or the KHL. He's done.

We go through this every season. Osgood has a long stretch of mediocre play, and everyone declares that the Red Wings either have a goaltending controversy, or that they need to trade for another goalie.

Then Osgood really comes on when it counts and down the stretch, into the playoffs - and we spend most of the playoffs cooing about how clutch he is, and that he's one of the most underrated goalies in NHL history.

It get's really old. And they haven't even given Howard a fair shake at the job yet.

They should try to get Halak. Gainey will sink with Price. He'll never admit he made a mistake trading away Huet before Price had some mentoring or making him the starting G too early in the kid's career.
