Patriots show up Porter

As the final seconds ticked down to what already was a certain victory for the Patriots, the home team's closed-circuit feed to the Gillette Stadium scoreboard focused on a dejected Joey Porter on the Dolphins sideline. The caption below Porter's name: ``Zero tackles. Zero sacks.'' And one problem with that is it showed zero class because it needlessly ridiculed an already-beaten opponent. The other problem is Porter allowed the statistics to be accurate in the first place. The Dolphins sack leader a year ago was as invisible on the field as he was afterward in the locker room, when he bugged out without talking to reporters.

He'll still fing a reason to yap his mouth.

November 9, 2009  07:20 AM ET

His mouth is the only thing he contributed to the game.

So true.

I guess, according to the Miami Herald, what comes out of Porters mouth must be classy. Porter couldn't run out fast enough, but I'm sure that he'll be flapping his gums again shortly.

Sounds like the Miami Herald is doing a fine job of carrying Porter's water for him. Does he have a weekly column with them or what? It's one thing to run your mouth Joey, but you look like a fool when you then put up goose eggs in the game. The only time his name was mentioned during the broadcast is when they talked about his verbal diarrhea. Nice game Joey, nice game.

The Patriots video guys showed the amount of class towards Porter that he deserved.

It was a bit over the top. Got to be careful, what goes around comes around....

not after the game...he was mysteriously invisible post-game...following up on being invisible during the game.

Which one, the flapping of gums from Porter or what came around at Gillette Stadium?

The next Pats player (under Belichick) you hear running his mouth the way Porter did will be the first. It can't "come around' if you don't do what would make it come around.

If only he could do this every week...

Congratulations to the Patriots. One-upping Porter in a "who's the bigger tool" contest takes some doing. It's one thing for a player to shoot off his mouth; there's a long and storied history of that in sport. For a whole franchise to stoop to the same level is undignified.

I don't think anyone with a brain would equate the video-board operator with "the whole franchise"...

It's like a blow out. If you want to stop the embarassment, stop the other team from scoring. If not, shut up and take it.

November 9, 2009  08:07 AM ET

This is funny - if Joey is going to open his pie hole and make stupid sounds then I support the stadium PA & video board folks that thought this one up.

I don't like to make predictions, but I did say yesterday that he would skip the media session if the Phins lost. Thanks Joey, you didn't let me down.

Uh... the stadium scoreboard publicly embarrassed Porter... not that I'm a Porter fan in any way, shape or form...

comes around....?

You mean next game he might actually make a play or two? Porter didn't just offer up a prediction that Miamiwould beat the Pats, he continues totry to diminish alll they've accomplished in the last 8 years. He was a whiny biiitch when NE beat Pittsburgh and he still hasn't grown up.

He ran away with his tail tucked firmly between his legs.

What position did the scoreboard operator play yesterday?
