Kobe's contract extension on hold

Kobe Bryant has not signed a contract extension. In fact, it might not happen at all this season. The Lakers guard is under contract until July 2011, but he seems to be in no hurry to extend his deal. The Lakers have offered Bryant the maximum money he could earn. On top of the total of $47.8 million he is scheduled to make this season and next, he can sign a three-year extension worth $86 million to $91 million more, depending on NBA salary-cap figures to be determined in 2011.

So the news is that he hasn't signed an extension with 2 years to go?

November 9, 2009  07:50 AM ET

I, for one, am glad this is on the front page of the NBA T&R, especially since it's super slow and the NBA season is not in full swing.

I wonder why he has yet to sign the extension.
Hmmm.

Because he is waiting on the NY post article where He, Lebron and Bosh are going to the Knicks! All because a close friend of Kobe said so!

November 9, 2009  08:18 AM ET

I heard the reason he hasnt signed the extension yet is because they want to give all the money to Lebron to sign him and bring in youth.

You want LBJ and Kobe badly huh.
Wont happen!
Not in L.A!
As I said before Ariza who aint even a star dont wanna be third fiddle to kobe so for damn sure LBJ wont be in kobe's shadow.
He wants a ring yes, he wants the mula yes but he wants to lead a team to the promise land.
Just as Jordan did, Wade did and Kobe did this past season.
Nothing wrong with wishful thinking though.

Cavs can offer more money to James than the Lakers can.

I know I was joking I knew people would response to the comment that is why I said it, say something about King James and Knicks and watch a bunch of Cavs and Knicks fan response to it. lol

Magic played with a lot of stars, and Lebron is more Magic that Jordan. I don't see it happening however, but T&R can do variations on these stories for another year.

I state facts thats it.

Can't blame the Lakers for putting it out there early how much they want him. 3 yrs 86 - 91 mill, now that is an offer that is hard to refuse.

I retract my previous comment, because of the way Kobe wants everyone to know it is his team, I don't think there would be space for another ego.

Wade is a winner and a pure leader; I just hope Miami can surround him with good solid supporting cast because we all know what he can do with given the opportunity.

Agreed Bro.
Q Rich has been the x factor and J.O the wild card.
Haslem is the x factor off of the bench and all Beasley has to do is dominate games and improve his defense.
We are two players away.
Add a Bosh or Staudemire to the mix with a above average point guard and were good.

November 9, 2009  09:18 AM ET

What a dumb non-story. Kobe will be a Laker forever.

Two players away from what?
