Tough trade market for Bradley

06:57 AM ET 11.10 | Cubs general manager Jim Hendry hopes he can unload outfielder Milton Bradley in quick fashion. But as the GM meetings began Monday, there was no certainty that was possible. The Rangers might have the most interest, but sources insisted Texas would agree to a deal only if the Cubs ate most of the remaining $21 million on Bradley's contract. That's a route Hendry seems unwilling to take for now. The Blue Jays reportedly want no part of Bradley, despite a rumor on foxsports.com of a three-way deal in which the Cubs would acquire Mets second baseman Luis Castillo for Bradley. New York would then send Bradley to Toronto for first baseman Lyle Overbay.

This guy would be an excellent reclamation project for LaDrunka. The perfect player to protect Pujols.

Wow, I'm totally shocked that there aren't 29 teams trying to break down the Cub's door for the chance to get this guy!

TOM RICKETTS FIRST MOVE WOULD BE TO FIRED JIM HENDRY FOR SIGNNING BRADLEY IN THE FIRST PLACE .

Hard to believe it's a tough market for a malcontent with 21M left.

MUST be the recession, otherwise who wouldn't want an underachieving sociopath?

For as much as DeRosa was the glue to a very talented team, Bradley was the distraction that tore that team apart. Supposedly Hendry met with A-Whole before signing him. How did Bradley hide his personality from Hendry......or is Hendry that gullible? Get rid of them both even if it means eating the 21M.

Bradley should team up with Albert Belle and hit the wrestling circuit...

At least Albert Belle was a good hitter. Bradley is the epitome of mediocrity. Who does he think he is? Pujols?

Has anyone started a Fire Hendry website yet?

November 10, 2009  09:50 AM ET

I find it hard to believe noone wants to employ such a fine upstanding citizen who provides such a quality role model for the young athletes to set store by.......NOT

If they didn't have so many other inflated contracts it wouldn't be a big deal to eat the $21 million.

November 10, 2009  10:37 AM ET

Deal Overbay, we need 1B open for CARLOS DELGADO!

November 10, 2009  10:54 AM ET

I have a feeling Texas will be scrambling for one more bat as they just missed the playoffs last year. If they think Bradley could produce down there then a trade will be worked out.
While the Cubs are doing some minor housecleaning they should give Hendry his walking papers too.

Cubs do need some of that 21 million to get themselves some pitching though.

Every GM knows that the longer they let this drag on, the more of Bradley's contract the Cubbies will have to eat. That assumes, of course, that some GM wants Bradley on his team. I'm not sure why anyone would want Bradley.

I think the only two teams that are desperate enough to trade for Bradley are the Royals and Nationals. But once the trade goes through, Hendry will realize his mistake of trading Bradley and will promptly trade for him again!!
