06:44 AM ET 11.11 | Peter Forsberg has no shortage of potential suitors. Don Baizley, Forsberg's agent, spoke to his client yesterday but said no decision has been made concerning a return to the NHL. Forsberg is expected to make up his mind by the end of the week. The Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers are among the handful of NHL teams interested in the 36-year-old free agent.

This is getting as bad as the Sundin talk last year.

Well Sundin made a pretty penny for a couple of months' work.

And Vancouver is mentioned here as well, so it works there.

Me thinks intrepid T&R reporters miss all the #@&%*^# that their Sundin stories have generated here!

But you are all forgetting: the Sundin talk last year replaced the Forsberg talk the year before! The cycle continues!

I believe we had both going last year. We were near starting a pool to see which irritation would be the first article to show in the morning.

I hate to mention it, but with three forwards down for an extended period I am surprised the Red Wings have not been rumored in the mix.

November 11, 2009  11:32 AM ET

He said last time he wouldn't be comfortable playing for the Wings due to the Avs fans who still consider it to be their top rivals. The Wings are out. Besides, the way this season has gone so far, the last thing they need is another forward signed on to get hurt.

True...but that doesn't mean that dubious outlets such as T&R and the Sun will still press that rumor.

I hope Boston will hold out for a better trade deadline pick-up, 1 that will actually play every game and have an impact. Ilya Kovalchuk anybody?

Your comment brings up an interesting situation.

Packers hero Brett Favre betrayed Packer fans by signing with the hated enemy Vikings.
Avalanche hero Peter Forsberg crossed Detroit off his list because signing with the enemy would betray his Avalanche fans.

The two sports teams I'm most passionate about are the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Red Wings. If you would've told me three years ago that in 2009 I would despise Brett Favre and admire Peter Forsberg I would've committed you to a mental hospital.

Well, Kovalchuck has said he either wants to play for Atlanta or go back to Russia. He isn't going anywhere.

He's lying.

November 11, 2009  01:42 PM ET

Lying through his teeth, haha. I put little to no basis on this, but I heard word he would like to go to the Wings to play with Datsyuk as well. While it may not be realistic to think the Wings could fit him under the Cap, it sure seems to dispell the myth that he will only play in Atlanta or Russia...

November 11, 2009  02:30 PM ET

I just don't get this at all. Are GMs really that stupid??? It is well known that as soon as you sign Forsberg, you have to be prepared to have him in and out of the lineup, more often out..for weeks! Enough of this Forsberg crap!

Of course they did. Incompetence takes on many forms. Posting a story and not giving a crap about it afterward counts as one.

I'm not as sure that this is a stupid move as many of you here. I'm not saying you build your playoff hopes on this guy, but are you telling me he couldn't help the Bruins score some points while Savard's out? Maybe he only plays every 2nd game and goes out after a month, but that's a pretty acceptable stop-gap during Savard's injury, and if he produces the way he did for Colorado in that last ill-advised comeback - when he scored about a point and a half per game for them, when he played - it would go a long way towards getting the Bruins out of their scoring funk without being a major hit to the Cap when Savard returns. He's proven to make the players around him better...put him on a line with Krejci/Sturm/Wheeler and I bet you'd see those guys start tearing it up. Vancouver could use him for some second line scoring - maybe HE could figure out how to make Bernier score the way he sometimes looks like he can. Its not as abig a trip as you guys think, is all I am saying, especially in light of all the superstar injuries this year.

November 11, 2009  04:14 PM ET

More or less, I'm trying to say that if you treat this guy like a platoon-style goalie, there is a good chance you can get some serious production out of him. No playing 2 games in 2 nights, don't bother playing him against the Panthers, 'Canes or Isles of the world, and limit him to 15 minute games or something like that. Not Captain material, maybe, but a point or two per game is a big contribution no matter how you look at it.

I love Forsberg like any other hockey fan but c'mon go, the guy's way too injury prone. I'll be happy as a Bruins fan if we can go .500 with Savard and Lucic out. I'd rather us make a move at the trade deadline for a solid (durable) point producer. Most likely a winger that can play with Savard. God knows we have enough centermen. The Wings on the other hand are devastated by injury and turn-over. Your Wings need him more than the B's go. How'd you feel if Holland made such a move?
