Cubs eyeing Byrd, Granderson

05:56 AM ET 11.12 | The Rangers' Marlon Byrd appears to be the Cubs' primary center field target, and sources said Hendry will be able to sign another outfielder even if he hasn't traded Milton Bradley yet. But Byrd may not be their only option. If the Tigers' Curtis Granderson becomes available, as the New York Post reported, Hendry is likely to explore a deal that would have to include Bradley because Granderson is owed $25.75 million over the next three years.

The rangers will regret not signing him... Please don't bring Bradley back either!

For Pete's sake......other than the Mets, what team would be so stupid as to want Milton Bradley?

November 12, 2009  06:59 AM ET

"Recall that Tigers manager Jim Leyland was irate last summer when an Internet rumor spread that the Tigers might be interested in acquiring Bradley.

"We have absolutely no interest in Milton Bradley," he said. "Now does that mean I don't think Milton Bradley is a good player? Don't get into 'Oh, Jim doesn't like Milton Bradley.' That's not what I said.' "

Even the Tribune author knows this is nonsense.

Now will the Cubs eye a winning season?

November 12, 2009  07:27 AM ET

Trading one of MLB's best citizens (Granderson) for Bradley and his baggage does not sound like a very good deal to me.

November 12, 2009  07:40 AM ET

No way Detroit deals Granderson for Bradley.

November 12, 2009  07:49 AM ET

I would love to see granderson on the southside.

November 12, 2009  08:39 AM ET

Hendry is as dumb as most cubs fans if he thinks Detroit would even consider a trade of Bradley for Granderson fair on any planet... Who comes up with this crap? Besides... Gwandy was raised as a south sider in Chicago... Cubs? Thats sacroligious...

November 12, 2009  08:39 AM ET

When are teams going to wise up and keep Bradley unemployed?

November 12, 2009  09:21 AM ET

If the Rangers were wise they wouldn't think about signing Bradley until they can confirm whether Grandersono is available. He's an incredibly talented, powerful and fast leadoff-hitting OF, a rare find and the perfect young player to grow with that young talented pitching staff. They should go balls to the wall for that guy.

Leyland won't want Bradley.....no way, no how.

November 12, 2009  10:26 AM ET

Look, I understand all the bad mouthing of Milton Bradley. He is a hot head who gets injured a lot and is poison in the clubhouse, but lets give the guy some credit. He did invent Monopoly.

November 12, 2009  12:56 PM ET

I also heard that Hendry is trying to trade Bradley for Albert Pujols straight-up.

You can't blame Hendry for not trying...

November 12, 2009  01:30 PM ET

Bradley watch now gies up there with peavy watch and the Phoenix Coyotes. We don't need updates on these things everyday. I'd rather know where chone figgins is gonna sign to tell you the truth.

November 12, 2009  02:48 PM ET

Didn't Leyland and the Tigers have Gary Sheffield? Wait, that didn't work out so well either. I would love to have Granderson as a Cub, but I do not see this happening.

Send him back to the Rangers for whatever they will offer. He was not a good fit for the Cubs.

November 12, 2009  03:49 PM ET

Granderson is a good defensive player and reliable and with a decent salary, but I wouldn't trade him for Bradley, he's just a cancer wherever he goes..

November 12, 2009  05:33 PM ET

Bradley would probably be dumb enough to try and pull the race card in Detroit.

November 12, 2009  06:04 PM ET

Where's KenoshaMarkie? He must be getting ready to watch the Bears suck tonight!

November 12, 2009  07:29 PM ET

This Granderson rumor is really starting to piss me off.

I agree.I found it amazing that the number of teams(Dodgers/Cubs) have been fooled by Bradley and his so called reformed character. But it has happened.I cannot see any team taking him on borad at this moment,it is likely that he will be moved at the last minute to some team. And as far as Granderson is concerned.Well I bet there are quite a few teams who would sign him in a nanno second.
