04:29 AM ET 11.15 | A general manager who spoke to the Marlins at last week's GM meetings said their No. 1 priority is trading Dan Uggla for cheap, young talent. ``There's a decent market for him,'' the GM said, with the Braves, Orioles and Giants among options. Emilio Bonifacio could replace him at second. ``That's his best defensive position but his bat is still a question,'' the GM said.

Last season saw Uggla experiencing a major drop-off from his first three years. I wouldn't expect the Marlins to get nearly as much as they would've if they had traded him after the '08 season.

Lets not forget the All Star game errors.... this guy just locks up under pressure.

Giants should trade Aaron Rowand and a pitching machine for this guy...thats about an even deal.

My guess even though it doesnt say it, but he will end up in Boston. Boston has been shopping around for a solid mid-inf guy, and this is him.

boston doesnt seem like a good fit they already have pedroia at second and uggla doesnt have the range to play ss

the twins could use him but i dont see this trade going the twins way, he hits about 30homers and 80+ rbi someone will give the marlins a decent haul for this guy

sleeper team to watch in the Uggla sweepstakes is the reds, they have payroll flexability and the prospects the marlins would want to get the deal done, and unlike Boston the reds do have a second baseman with the range and arm to play shortstop in Phillips

November 15, 2009  09:56 PM ET

Aaron rowand and edgar renteria for uggla

November 15, 2009  10:45 PM ET

would be a good fit for the Cubs. If the rumor are true and the Cubs are the front runner to land Granderson via a trade their lineup with Uggla and Granderson would be much improved

A decent market for a .220 hitter who K's too much?

November 16, 2009  08:32 AM ET

This guy should have "DH" tattooed on his forehead.

November 16, 2009  09:33 AM ET

Being from S. Fla. I know that Uggla is as good gone. As far as where he should play? It's been my impression for a couple of years now that he better learn how to play LF, beacuse that's where his future is in the National League. At least in the American League he could DH occasionally against LH pitching. Considering what The Fish gave up to get him, I think that the return would be considered a win(even though I agree that it could have been more if it happened a year or two ago) for Beinfest and Hill and Co.

*as good as gone.

Uggla means "owl" in Swedish! Learned that from Chip Carey folks!

November 16, 2009  11:01 PM ET

I was reading something on ESPN saying that the Phillies could be interested in Uggla, it said they would move him to 3 base. He would be a great fit to the power bats the Phillies have but i dont know if he could play 3 base well

With Palonco a FA he could end up in Detroit. The Tigers and Marlins have had dealings in the past. All depends on what anyone is willing to pay.
