05:50 AM ET 11.16 | Giants prospect Angel Villalona is out of jail, but his future remains in doubt. The slugging 19-year-old first baseman, who is charged with murder in the Sept. 19 barroom shooting death of a man in the Dominican Republic, was released on bail last Friday, according to an Associated Press report from the island nation. With rumors abounding of a lucrative payoff, the family of the deceased man, Mario Felix de Jesus Velete, reportedly have requested that all charges against Villalona be withdrawn. But prosecutor Jose Antonio Polanco told the AP that his office would proceed with its murder case against Villalona and a trial would begin shortly.

MOST of the Domican Republic is destitute save the Punta Cana area, so he may only be slightly undercutting the 'settlement' amount...................are the Giants really STILL interested in him?

Come to the States and hang out with another Giant (of the NFL variety)...nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

He's paying the family $140,000 of his 2.1 mil contract to look the other way. I guess that means that the family can live like kings for 140 years, right aap1970?

I guess domestic abuse Tuesdays didn't go over too well in the Felix household.

If Boras continues to put unreal expectations into Damon's head the Yanks may look at him but I doubt it. They won't want to give up prospects for a guy they can get next year for nothing. They'll sign Matsui and put a combo of Melky, Gardiner, Austin Jackson and probably a Henske type guy between left and center.

Oops, thought I was on the Crawford thread. Yanks won't go near this guy.

He should arrange to have dinner with Jim Hendry, blow some some up Hendry's ass and expect a lucrative three year contract.
