Will Nelson exit Golden State after record?

07:25 AM ET 11.17 | When do coach Don Nelson and point guard/shooting guard/selfish guard Monta Ellis leave Golden State, too? When do they tell the far-too-generous Warriors brass to take their jobs and shove it? Can't be long now. Can't. Just can't. Nellie can't coexist with this youth-laden roster, no matter if Jackson and Acie Law are gone and replaced by ex-Bobcats Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Nellie figures to outlast Ellis because, well, Nellie's magic number is only 21 -- the victories needed to surpass Lenny Wilkens' NBA all-time wins record. If he can't get that mark with the Warriors, then where?

Warriors fans better hope so.

No. They are going to have to fire him. His ego is to big to quite.

Logically it looks like Nellie must go but don't be so sure of it. He has built a team that only him and maybe D'Antoni can coach but given the reality check these 09 Knicks have given him I don't think he'd take their money. So Nelly has great leverage. Not to mention with their current roster they can't flip playing styles like Phonix did so don't be surprised if Nelly's still coaching that team five years from now - the rebuilding plan goes on & on.

Ellis on the hand is a star guard who will leave whenver he wants like Jackson, Harrington & Crawford - all he has to do is voice his dislike for Nelly.

So the bottom line is Nelly has put himself in a position where he is more important to the organization than any star player so management has more to loose if they let him go.

The maddness continues!!!

Enough with Golden state!!

Stay tuned to "As the World Turns"......

Nellie needs the money for retirement and wants to get his record as well. Ellis will be gone too before you know it, just like Jax....

21 more wins? This may go well into next season.

He doesn't need the money. Hell we (tha Mavs) are still paying that buffoon from when he coached here. He "retired" bc his heart wasn't in it anymore and then got the job with GS like a year later. Im glad all of you are seeing what and idiot this guy is and the reason the Mavs never won a championship.

21 more wins...can the warriors wait 3 more seasons for him to hit that mark to end the disaster that is this Warriors team?

I hear you on the other stuff - But he was quoted at the end of last season that he is still working because he does need the money - Hawaii is expensive yo...

He says a lot of things. I know with the Mavs he was getting about 5 million a year in his "retired consulting role" before he got another job with GS. He is a senile old man that says stupid stuff all the time.

Or maybe he needs that money to get that brain replacement surgery since he lost his mind about 8 years ago.

no one is disputing this and why most of us understand that
it is & always has been GS OWNERSHIP and management
that has killed this franchise..
....Nellie is simply another bad decision

I sure as hell wouldn't 'quit' - I'd make them fire me so I wouldn't
lose any $$$$$

If you have something else besides love, goodwill and compassion for your job you of course won't be happy or help yourself or anybody... blame the stupid front office that signed his contract. It's a shame such old man are doing this. He needs to be in the same cell with Madoff.
