Nets not firing Frank -- yet

05:54 AM ET 11.19 | Nets team president Rod Thorn knows what odds coach Lawrence Frank has faced from the outset, odds that have grown increasingly worse, odds of an ice cube against a flame thrower. So while he is most supportive of his coach, Thorn uses the word "realistic" when assessing the situation. Be realistic in knowing how tough the situation is, but also be realistic in knowing the losing must somehow end. "If this continues, none of us are safe," Thorn said, providing neither a vote of confidence nor a condemnation of Frank. Should the losing continue, something must happen, although Thorn flatly said don't look for anything on the immediate horizon.

The Nets have not won a game and they keep changing their lineup on a game by game basis. I think Injuries or not, for the team as a whole it is not a sweet situation.

They can't get any worse with a new coach.........so..............

But at the same time, on paper, well it just wouldn't be fair for that new coach.

Might as well keep him ( don't wanna pay him and a new coach).

Brook Lopez and CDR, and even sometimes TWILL are at least filling up the box score

They play Knicks on Saturday so they'll have a legitimate chance to win.

so how many times do they get to play the knicks?

Couldn't this be a headline for every professional team? Head Coach not fired yet.

zzzzz- No shiate.....

November 19, 2009  08:35 AM ET

Sign Iverson !

November 19, 2009  08:43 AM ET

2 key players are hurt what do they expect from the team, win a game??

November 19, 2009  08:47 AM ET

see this is what happened a few years ago-
the nets were in 'rebuild' mode and decided NOT to fire him
cause they were a couple years away....so they let him hang on

Yes they have bad injuries- YES they weren't going anywhere-
they are holding onto him cause they are being cheap-
cut him loose and start over

Who are the going to hire if they fire Frank? They are only going to get an interim coach for the remainder of the season. They need to keep him until the new Russian Oners are approved. The new owner can then determine what type of coaching style and direction they team should take.

November 19, 2009  09:19 AM ET

Correction. I meant owners not oners.

November 19, 2009  09:20 AM ET

Got to let him go so he can be recycled. I give him 2 years before he is picked up by another team; its the NBA way.

November 19, 2009  09:26 AM ET

firing him would be worse than the byron scott firing.....at least scotts's allstars were playing. Frank is coaching an intramural squad right now with all of the injuries....meanwhile CDR is seems to be developing into a player while everyone is out....

I know, for the Hornets situation when does the GM take responsibility and not blame the coaches for the teams failure, they basically did nothing during the off season to make the team better. The Hornets are basically the same team from last year that got drilled during the first round of the playoffs. You would think as a GM I better get a player or two to help out my stars.

right..it seems they forgot they traded away all his best players for essential devin harris (who is hurt now)...so what do they expect him to do when his starting lineup consists of Trenton Hassell & Josh Boone? LOL

November 19, 2009  09:41 AM ET

meant to say *Essentially* Devin Harris

November 19, 2009  09:50 AM ET

It might be poetic justice to rehire Byron Scott.
