06:02 AM ET 11.19 | Jeremy Shockey doesn't buy it. King James wouldn't cut it in the NFL on Sundays. That is what the sometimes talkative New Orleans Saints tight end said via his Twitter account Wednesday night. "Everyone trust me Lebron James could not play in the NFL," he wrote on his Twitter account. "ESPN is crazy to even think he could even make a practice squad. He;s a 4.9 40 time."

Who cares? LeBron has no intention of quitting his day job.

This qualifies as a rhetorical question.

....and Shockey couldn't cut it in the NBA. But who cares?

I don't blame Shockey here - essentially James says without any training or practice he could do what it's taken Shockey years to perfect (just roll with it and ignore the obvious Shockey sucks remarks). I imagine James would say the same thing if Shockey said he could be a power forward in the league.

Either way, James is gonna have a hard time catching passes with that bum wrist he got the other day - karma came to get him!

Yeah for sure everybody here who's old enough to remember Michael Jordan's attempt at switching to baseball knows that jumping out of one professional sport into another is no easy thing to do. And yeah I am pretty sure that the trash talk would be just as loud in the other direction if Shockey had made the remark

Bo Jackson was the only one I know of who was successful in two sports.

Deon Sanders?

This guy is amazing...shut your pie hole and play

But I always wondered if the strain of training for and playing both sports at a high level contributed to his injury. Not saying it wouldn't have occured if he stuck to one sport, but you still have to wonder. And Deion Sanders was a pretty productive ballplayer for a while.

also, Hershel Walker became an Olympic class bobsledder after football, but that may have been an alternate identity from the running back, so that doesn't count

Exactly.

Eric Mangini apparently thinks Lebron would make a great TE or so he said recently. Forget leaving for NYC, Lebron is leaving to join ... the Browns???

November 19, 2009  07:57 AM ET

If anyone knows about "not cutting it" in the NFL it's Jeremy Shockey!!

I think Mangini would take anything to try and get the news off of him...
